Any news on Summer '05 Cruise Dates?

Would DCL consider a 14-day cycle in order to continue offering all their cruise "products" on the East Coast? That is, what are the chances for a 3-day followed by a 4-day followed by a 7-day followed by a 3 day followed by a 4-day followed by a 7-day, and so on...

Anyone?

I would think not only because they have released all the dates for the Wonder for its 3 and 4 day sailings. I believe it is only the Magic dates that haven't been released.

While your plan makes if 3 and 4 day cruises have been booked for all the different dates it would be a royal pain to change them.

If the Disney Magic goes to California, it will be interesting to see if they do 7-night cruises to the Mexican Riviera (Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta) or one-week packages involving Disneyland plus a 3- or 4-night cruise.

The problem with 7-night cruises is that this defeats the idea of land/sea vacations that allow guest to participate in Disneylan'd 50th anniversary.

The problem with 3- and 4-night cruises from Southern California is that the cruise has to go to Ensenada, and that there isn't enough time to go to the better destinations further south.

Does anyone know exactly when Disneyland's 50th anniversary begins? What month? Someone most know when they opened. I do not know too much about Disneyland. Thanks.

The grand opening of Disneyland was July 17, 1955, so July 17, 2005 will be the big day.

However, in usual Disney marketing style, this won't just be a one-day celebration. The Internet rumors say the "event" will start in May 2005 and continue through Summer 2006. That doesn't mean the Disney Magic would be there the whole time -- but it could.

Thank you Horace. We were planning on cruising July 2nd on the Magic. I know it might not be there the whole year, but I would think it would be there sometime right before this celebration. If this does happen, chances are very good that beginning of July it could be in CA. Okay, we will still have to wait for announcements.

Since we live in Hawaii, we would love to see a Disney cruise on the West Coast. I strongly believe that a West Coast cruise will be a huge hit for those who have to travel so far.

We will definitely book for summer 2005 if Disney comes west. I sure hope the "rumors" are true :hyper:

I talked to disney last noc and the reason they stated for dates not posted yet was that they are looking at different ports of call for repeating guests.

The big question is whether those "different ports" will be in the Caribbean or on the Pacific coast.

I have to agree with my Hawaiian neighbor. Not everyone lives on the East Coast. You guys don't know how lucky you are to have DCL out there. It's a hop, skip and a jump for most of you to fly down for a sailing. For us, it can be $400 or more just to fly out, so many West Coasters don't get to partake NEARLY as often as they'd like. I for one am very excited at the possibility of the Magic coming to the West Coast even if it IS only for a few months. It'll give us a chance to enjoy her.
I talked with someone at DCL and they comfirm the rumors, but as always, have no information. I believed the CM, as this is typical Disney...to leave their CMs in the dark 'til the last minute, thus creating a frenzy of mis-information and rumor until they finally announce something and then you have to move on it so quickly your head spins. The CM I talked with hinted at a lottery, like the one they used to get on the maiden of the Magic, for the precious few Magic/Disneyland sailings (IF that is what they decide).
Whatever happens, at least the East Coasters know the Magic will be back that September, as there are bookings posted for that time period on.
I think a few months is a fair trade for those of us down by Disneyland and it makes sense to me that they would wish to celebrate DLs big birthday in the grandest way possible. After all...there may not BE a WDW without Disneyland.princess:

We are east coasters..and we would love to see DCL on the west coast...the minute the announcement is made...I am booking a family cruise for us. We can't wait.

We are hoping for Mexican riviera, or Alaska!

Where do you find out? I mean, if an "announcement" is made where do you hear about it? I'm sure people will be talking here but what is the best way to hear officially?
My best guess is to watch for the official Disneyland (you know, Walt's little park out west;) ) 50th anniversary announcement.

Matt Ouimet (formerly president of DCL) has come to Disneyland and has had his hands full repairing the neglect that the park suffered under his predicessors. They are also working on a Disneyland 50th celebration that is worth of the park (unlike the Disney Company's plans for Disneys Golden Celebration - with emphasis on WDW, DLP and DL Tokyo and almost nothing at Disneyland which is celebrating its 50th year next year.

The speculation is that the Magic will move out here for a few months the "test the waters" along with DL-50. If it is a success, then just maybe DCL will get it in gear and order another ship or two and then we all will have more itenerary choices.

Jrabbit, you make lots of sense and I agree totally! I think they ARE looking to build another ship and we are certainly on the top of the list as a home port. Any idea where they'd sail out of? I know here in San Fran, there are few cruises left to sail out of our ports. It's unfortunate. It'd make a great cruise itinerary. San Fran to Disneyland. I figure Long Beach or San Pedro? Of course we have to also consider that DCL's biggest draw is their private island. I'm sure they'd want to offer that with another ship and do we HAVE any islands for sale out here?
Well, I'm crossing MY fingers!

I heard that May 5 would be the release date for summer 2005 cruise. I hope it's sooner than that. We've been planning a summer05 cruise for 2 years. I hope they sail out of Fla. to new ports as we've done both a western and on eastern on DCL. I know several of the cruises later this year are sailing to some new ports. Some of our family members who have never cruised wanted to join us in 05 but will not fly to Ca. for a cruise. Maybe we'll do a 4-day but not sure as we really want to do a 7 day again. Not releasing the dates leaves a lot of people in limbo for future vacation plans.

How did that lottery work? I'm just trying to figure out how to get on if that chance comes around......
