Any news on Flamingo Crossings?

Not that I'm seeing much as we drive by (other than an increase in the number of cops pulling cars over near the 429 overpass) but there have been new road signs put up on 545 marking the road as Flamingo Crossings (not Hartzog).

Got me wondering if whoever owns that development is finally looking to start something there?

Well, this site is still up...

Seems like they are still waiting to get critical mass on buy-in before doing anything.

I just noticed the space allocated to "timeshares". I wonder if DVC might have an eye on it, or they are expecting a third party (like Marriot or something).

I make the following observations:

1) I count 20 parcels for hotels. Very ambitious. Considering that most hotel chains already have properties in Lake Buena Vista, either on Disney property or in the Crossroads/Palm Parkway area, this just seems very unlikely.

2) I never knew part of the development was on the east side of TOLL 429. That's interesting. Makes sense though.

3) Any rumor of a new adult-oriented Pleasure Island 2.0 being part of this development is quashed by their development map, which shows no such animal. They ought to consider it though. Maybe that would kick things off out there. Disney would have to build it though because no one else is spending money out there right now.

4) We need more timeshare units like we need a hole in the head.

Can't imagine DVC would go in off-property

1) Interesting that their "Pedestrian−Friendly Themed Master Plan" only mentions 7 hotels.

2) Yeah, but there is nothing done east of the 429 as far as clearing land or road improvements. There's at least some roads and landscaping (palm trees) on the west side.

3) I get the feeling this will be a DTD-lite created purely via 3rd-party branding.

4) Agreed.

There are new, taller electrical towers going in along the 429 and heading south toward this development. Not sure if that's just some new corridor by Progress Energy (or whoever is running them) or if it's something to bring powerlines to this project. They weren't there last week that we noticed so it's obviously something on-going.
