Any news on 'Chrissyk's kitty?

Awhh don't feel guilty.

I am so glad your kitty is home. I don't have to drive by the place anymore and think, "is Chrissy's Kitty still there?" :teeth:

I would have "slept" on the floor next to my kitty as well.

With any luck, he won't be back there until his stitches get removed on the 7th :) I have my fingers crossed on that anyways. That is a wonderful animal hospital though...if your kitty has to be anywhere, that's the place to be.

Yep, there was no question that I was going to sleep on the floor next to him. I had to know how he was doing at all times. He kept waking up and looking over at me last night. I think that he was glad that I was right there in case he needed me. How my DH actually managed to get any sleep last night I'll never know...I was a nervous wreck myself!

And hoping tonight is a comfortable one for both of you :wave2: They are such dear friends and you are a wonderful Mum!

Well, I managed a few hours of sleep last night, but not much. I'm wondering if I shouldn't rouse him for his pain medication tonight :confused3 That seemed to agitate him last night, and then he got up for a while (so I got up). I don't want him to be in pain, though, so I'm following the every 8 hours protocol that was on his surgeon's instructions.

Either way, he's was much more alert yesterday than he was the day before, and he seemed even more alert this morning. The darned collar is bugging the heck out of him as he gets more alert, though. I feel bad, but it has to stay on!

Hi chrissy!

I'm so glad to hear he's back home as each of us (both human and animal) does better in our own environment. :sunny: I can imagine all the stress you're under and I know what you mean when you say you're always watching over him. It's so awful when pets are ill but I'm sure you'll give him all the care and love he needs to heal and get back on his feet.

Does he go longer at night than the 8 hours? What makes you think maybe you should wake him to give his meds?

They do say it is easier to keep the pain under control rather than get it back under control after it already has it's hold?

I am hoping tonight is easier...I bet as the stitches heal they get uncomfortable too and that is part of the cycle..Can only get better right?

It's tough when they don't understand and we cannot explain it! :confused3

The first night, he definitely needed the medication at 8 hour intervals. Last night, I'm not so sure. He seemed to be stirring a little at around the 8 hour interval, so I thought that he was in pain and I gave him his meds. I did have to rouse him a bit to do this. It took me a few tries, though, and he was agitated by the time I succeeded. That resulted in him getting up, which of course resulted in me getting up to make sure that he was OK. Tonight I'm hoping that he goes all night w/o stirring. If so, I won't be waking him up to give him his meds.

I do wonder if the stitches itch or otherwise become uncomfortable as everything heals. I'm sure that he's totally aggrivated by not being able to get at them because of the collar. Hopefully you're right and every day will be an improvement over the last. I'm just fully greatful that he's still here with us :goodvibes

I don't even know him and I am grateful too!! BTW, what's his name? I am sure you've mentioned but I haven't noticed..

Well, this afternoon, his name is Houdini (though we normally call him by his nickname of Buddy ;) )...he came prancing out of the bedroom with his collar off this afternoon :rolleyes2. I said hi to him without even noticing that he was missing something, and then suddenly my DH looked up and noticed that his Elizabethan collar was not on him!!! DH found it under our bed, so as best as we can figure it, he went under the bed and somehow used the sideboard to unsnap his collar. If cats could join Mensa, he'd definitely be a candidate  He was REALLY put out when we put the collar right back on him. It's going to be a fun 10 days until he gets this collar off :rolleyes2

No wonder you call him Houdini! :teeth:
You have to admire his determination and I bet he loved his time, albeit brief, of freedom! Only 9 days after today right?

Hope you are both sleeping like babies!
