Any News on a Carsland to be built at WDW

I know that Disney would want to let Carsland in California to be completed and operating for awhile first, but does anyone know if they have any plans to add a Carsland to one of the WDW parks (maybe Hollywood Studios)?

I would not be surprised to see the Cars franchise eventually represented in some way at one of the parks of WDW, probably DHS. If nothing else, the merchandise opportunities are huge. However, there are no announced plans.

I really doubt there will ever be a full Cars Land in Florida. The climax of the star attraction of Cars Land at DCA, Radiator Springs Racers, borrows heavily from Test Track -- probably too heavily to ever be cloned in Florida.

The Studios clearly would not be considered. Just do a Google Earth view of WDW and narrow down to the Studio. It is surrounded by roads so there is no place to expand.

Backlot Tour could be removed, but other than that you are right.

Personally I thought cars(2) were the worst Pixar movies ever made. I'm sure many people like it but I thought they were boring.

No place to expand, really? I'm looking at Google Earth and I see a ton of room for expansion to the east if need be. Trees can easily be removed, roads and parking lots easily broken up and relocated.

We already have Test track no need for another. The rest look like cheap carnival rides. Mater is no different then the Lady Bug ride already in Flick's area in CA, can't remember the name of that land, only bigger. Luigi Tires, imo no big deal really. Don't get me wrong the place looks amazing and I really can't wait to see it, but for $1 billion you would think you would get more then a dual track TT, unless I'm missing something.

DHS is hemmed in of the west and north by major roads and on the east and south by protected conservation areas.

The undeveloped, forested areas to the east and south of DHS and its parking lot are designated conservation areas in the Reedy Creek Improvement District (RCID) Comprehensive Plan. The RCID mapped the flood plains of the Bonnet Creek and Reedy Creek drainage basins to determine which parts of the WDW property will be left in their natural state.

While the overall footprint of DHS cannot expand into the conservation area, there are plenty of opportunities to expand the DHS park by changing how the existing site is used. Building a multi-level parking lot on the north or east portion of the current DHS parking lot would create a large expansion site. Consider that Universal's Islands of Adventure park sits on what was once the Universal parking lot.

Also, the undeveloped land across World Drive, west of DHS, is currently designated for "mixed use." It would be possible expand DHS to the other side of World Drive. An overpass could be designed so that guests are not even aware that they are crossing World Drive.

Regarding the suggestion of sacrificing the Backlot Tram Tour... The footprint of the current Backlot Tram Tour, including Catastrophe Canyon and the loading area, would not be sufficient for a clone of DCA's Cars Land. But there are opportunities to work in a smaller Cars presence by removing the Backlot Tram Tour and/or buildings near Toy Story Mania.

As already noted, Chevy Design Center (Test Track) at Epcot makes a full clone of Cars Land redundant and unlikely.

I just read an article from a Florida paper that had an interview with Tom Staggs (is that the name of the head of the parks?) Anyway, he was asked about Cars Land at WDW. He said that they are looking for other places to put it, but that there was no announcement just yet. That sounded like a big hint that it is coming eventually. My guess is they're going to wait and see how it affects attendance at DCA before they make a final decision. It's rumored to take up most or all of the back lot tour at DHS. I heard a podcast where they referred to it as an upgraded Cars Land.

I really don't want a total Cars land. However, I would love to see Pixar Place expanded to more than 1 ride, 1 M&G, and 1 souvenir. To me, borrow a "C" ticket from DCA (Mater or Luigi...doesn't matter) and a couple of other Pixar attractions from around the world in the C/D category that don't have height restrictions, move Pizza Planet from Muppets (replace with a Swedish Chef place), and then, you have a good Pixar Place. BTW, if they would do that, the 2 hour wait for Toy Story Mania would drop in no time; the target crowds would have other things to do after all.

Remember that by "other places" they can and probably do mean over seas.

Just like at the end of one of the WDW Modern Marvels shows an imagineer said they have plenty ideas for another park. Everyone just assumed a 5th park for FL instead of what would more likely be another overseas park or maybe South America.

I was always kind of surprised they didn't modify the cars at the Tomorrowland Speedway into all characters from Cars. My guess is that they feared too many kids would want to wait for the Lightning McQueen car causing all kinds of problems at the front of the line.

It may be hemmed in for expansion, but there's a lot of area that can be reclaimed from the now-defunct Backlot Tour and the Lights, Motor, Action! show to at the very least build out a more full Pixar Place rather than just a Carsland clone.
