About a month ago, I took a DVC survey about possible future DW pass discounts. Has anybody been to any meetings lately where any news has been announced about this?

its doubtful Disney will release any info about their survey.

While the survey at least gives us hope that ticket discounts are on the radar, I don't expect to hear anything before next year. The earliest we might hear would be the association meetings in December but even that's doubtful, IMHO.

BIG inhale and hold................................and hold.......................

I wouldn't if I were you.

KNWViking, LOL:teeth:

Pam, you're probably right. I was just hoping it were true before buying our next round of tickets before April. Wishful thinking, I'm sure.

Maybe if we sprinkle some pixie dust around it might happen for April! ;)

Since the survey thread I've seen a couple articles (e.g. http://miceage.com/kevinyee/ky072104a.htm) about how they are trying to seller FEWER APs at the Disneyland resort. The situation is of course different at WDW, but nevertheless the DL story leads me to be pessimistic about discounts on APs at WDW.

I'm cautiously optomistic about the AP discount as the situation between DLR & WDW is completely different. Supposedly, DLR has about 600,000 AP's and you have a lot that act as a baby sitter pass (i.e. get the pass for the teens so they can go to DL and be out of the house). In addition, since it's such a small area, DL has to offer more merchandise and dining discounts to get people to eat on property.
At WDW, since you a DVC member is a captive audience member, they will have to spend more money than a DL ap holder.

I wouldn't even think about any action for a year or more. Hopefully something will happen for member benefit but time will tell.

Well, if we go by the track record, there was a survey about the slide at OKW and now a mere 6 years later it is being built. :hyper:

The two programs are different. DL APs serve a day trip audience who are likely to not shop or eat once in the parks. At WDW I suspect the passes are more often bought by folks who have to travel some distance and make multi-day trips - so you get hotel, shopping dining and recreation dollars that might go elsewhere if they had not invested in an AP.

So that makes me hopeful that a discount program could occur. Maybe even more likely if they are considering a change to pool hopping after the opening of the OKW slide.

My fingers are crossed for February of 2006. That's when we will need new AP's under the current system that is in place. Maybe if it's a decent discount, people like my family would would plan differently (and as a result go more and spend more money).

I know they're different and your reasoning seems sound. I'm just afraid the "corporate culture", which seldom cares about sound reasoning, will be tilted against marketing of APs.

And for my 999th post I'll give a resounding:

Moooooooooooo!

I am not holding my breath either. Oh well, life goes on, with or without AP discounts, right?

Our AP's expired on Monday and we're going back to the land of Park Hoppers.....a discount might change our minds though.....

Also not holding my breath.
