Aside from Aulani, are there any other DVC properties in the works? I heard possibly there will be something near Wilderness, or maybe something in the Caribbean? Anybody else heard anything?

There have been rumors about a possible development (maybe DVC) in the old River Country site between Wilderness Lodge and Fort Wilderness.

There were also rumors about a possible DVC resort near Coronado Springs.

I haven't heard anything about either of these in a while.

Does anyone know anything more about either of these?

I'm also wondering how long it takes to build a DVC resort. Does anyone know how long it took to build BLT?

Disney also recently bought some land near Washington DC -- there's talk that part of it will be DVC....

Iteresting info. Is this all rumor? A reort in the Carribean would be nice, now that Hawaii is almost complete.. Any thoughts...

Read both of these rumors as well.

At River Country there are landscaping stakes. Someone found some architectural designs on the internet for a possible building here. On the Camping board, there were several posts about it. Additionally, several people have reported that some FW buildings will be moved this summer.

The CSR area rumor was based on an firm's internet posting that they had drawn up designs for a California theme DVC between BB and DHS. It was noted that this firm's advertising also listed DVC properties that were never built or were sold off.

I'm also wondering how long it takes to build a DVC resort.

I've read reports that it typically takes 2.5-3 years.

Even with construction, Disney could sell off the building. I believe Disney did sell off the property rather than make it part of DVC.

Until DVD starts selling points in a new resort, plans could always change.

They did in fact buy land at the National Harbor development area on the Anacostia river. Disney's property isn't waterfront, but it's pretty much the focal point of the property. There is already a Gaylord Convention Center there, so I don't think Disney would do any type of convention property.

I have driven around the National Harbor area a few times, and it really needs a Resort anchor. I REALLY think Disney would do an incredible job - and make a GREAT decision if they were to center the resort around an indoor water park.

The DC Metro area doesn't have one - and it would be an incredible 4 season destination - and a GREAT overnight for folks from the north - and a great weekend getaway for just about everyone in the mid-atlantic!

The convention traffic at the Gaylord would be able to attract families as well - the National Harbor is right across the river from the Old Town area of Alexandria - and just up the river from Mount Vernon and Fort Hunt Park.

The potential to be a base for a DC family vacation is incredible - and I think more than anyplace else, there is a huge market for Disney to tap into.

They could never do a full scale amusement park at National Harbor - but they could definitely do an amazing job with an indoor water park!

I just wish they would listen to me! :rotfl2: :lmao:

There was construction going on for a new Value Resort - we were told about it when we were there last summer. I can't remember what the theme was going to be.

But then again this is not DVC - so why did i mention it! LOL!

On a post on the Theme Parks board someone mentioned in passing that the permits have been pulled for a DVC on the River Country land (or something to that effect).

I would love it if they would build a new resort somewhere else like Hawaii that is off Disney property!
