Got a question. Does "Eight Bells" still symbolize the end of someones watch? Or more precisely their final watch being over as in death?

I am working on a tattoo design as a memorial for someone that worked/died on a ship. One concept will be that ship sailing into a sunset, and I was thinking of a halo/rainbow of eight bells around it. But I just can't remember if I am correct in Eight.

Also if anyone has any suggestion for a mariners memorial tat, feel free to share.
Thanks

Eight Bells is the end of a four-hour watch period on Naval vessels. The ship's bell is sounded each half hour during the period, with one extra ring each half-hour.

The term "Eight Bells" is sometimes used in the obituary of sailors, to show that the sailor's watch is concluded.
