Any Military members who are in DVC and dealt with overseas move?

Haven't found myself in the situation you describe yet... I do have a 6 month deployment coming into view and we are gaming out how to best use our borrowing strategies (There is no such thing as banking... That is an evil rumor. Banking would require you to not use your points---I'm more likely to actually see a Yeti on the new rollercoaster at Animal Kingdom than I ever am to see a bankable point.)
I think that given the length of your tour, you would be best to fully borrow out of the 1st year of your assignment for a whopper stay before you depart. Then, bank year 2 into year 3, with another big stay in year three. I suppose there is a 1 in 8 chance your use year matches your rotation date exactly... If that is the case you may want to rent out year 2 points and bank year 3 for use after you get back.
I believe there is also a method where you can convert your "year 2" points into a trade with timeshares outside the DVC system, but I am not familiar with that process. Best of luck and keep safe.

I would call and talk to Member Services. They have someone who is a customer relations person who handles special situations. DH's new job means frequent TDY's, sometimes will infringe on the 30 day rule. I asked if there were exceptions for last minute cancels due to military orders......they didnt say yes, they didnt say no....they said there are gray areas and this customer relations person reviews your situation and decides how to handle it....

not saying they could help you in a 3 year banking situation.....but maybe.

Dont forget too, arent there some overseas options for using points?

I was a military wife and we retired 2 years ago. I wish you much luck with the move and hope nothing really valuable breaks :earseek: . Why not try going to Disney paris or japan one year and bank the rest of the points? If you do go we would love to hear about the trip. Keep safe and godbless! :earboy2:
