I love his writing style. I have never been disappointed by any of his books, I always find myself unable to put any of his books down. I'm currently reading A Case of Need, one of his earlier books. He wrote this book under a different name, probably because of the subject matter.

Any other fans out there?:D

Count us in!! Our absolute favorite is "Timeline" and we can't wait for the movie to come out. It initially was due out this past summer, then they said fall, but I haven't see any advertisements for it lately. I am totally convinced that the movie version of "Timeline" will be a huge disappointment in comparison to the book, but we want to see it anyway!

I started to read "A Case of Need" recently but haven't finished. My DS15 is currently reading "Airframe".

I am currently re-reading Airframe. I do think that A Case of Need is one of his best. I wasn't overly thrilled with Prey. It seemed like he was writing to sell the movie rights.

I have read most of his books.

The only one I really disliked was The Lost World. It was such a disappointment after Jurrasic Park.

I loved Timeline. I almost never like the movie that follows a book, but there are exceptions to that rule (most recently, Seabiscuit), so I'm looking forward to seeing it!

Hi Rita,
I have really enjoyed Michael Crichtons books, my favourite is Airframe which I want to get my DS (nearly 14) to read as he wants to be a pilot!
DD is quite into history so I must get her to read Timeline, I thought it was great.
My DH works in films (camera crew) and years ago worked on "The Great Train Robbery", screenplay by Michael Crichton. He said he was a very nice man, and the tallest he had ever seen!
Must try and get A Case of Need.
Cheers,
Sandra

Hi SeaSpray!:wave2: Haven't seen you in a while.

I haven't read Timeline, but I will look for it.

Sandra~ I saw one of his interviews some time ago and he is quite tall.

I too agree with the assessment of Timeline. What an awesome story and incredible imagination that Michael Crighton has!

I have also enjoyed most of his books, but Timeline is definitely my favorite.

I loved Timeline - far and away an all time favorite for DH and I. I haven't tried any others yet, but I'll start looking. I would go see the movie just to enjoy the visuals of Timeline, hopefully it get released???

:wave2: Hi Rita!

How are you doing?? I've been over on the cruise boards because we've booked our first Disney cruise for next summer. :boat: DSs don't know about the cruise yet, we'll tell them some time this winter, and we plan on keeping the fact that we have a verandah a surprise, so they'll walk into the cabin and find it for themselves :teeth:

I figured it was time to get back over here on the Community Board, I missed the general topics and chit chat :chat:

You definitely should read "Timeline", you won't be disappointed. And if you do a lot of driving, see if your library has it on cassette or CD, it's great to listen to on a long trip. They have a wonderful actor who reads the story and he changes his voice for each character. We've all read the book AND we borrow the tapes from our local library if we're going on a long trip, Michael Crichton is wonderful at painting visual pictures for his readers. We never get tired of listening to this book, on tape. We've seen a couple of commercials for the movie and they've changed a lot of the story, but that's not unusual when they try to translate a good book into a movie. I think in and of itself, it should be a fun movie to see. :3dglasses

I've read everything he's written. He's very good.

Case of Need was written under a fake name while he was in medical school (or maybe working at a medical school, don't remember for sure). Anyway, it was before Roe Vs. Wade, so if he had written it openly, he would have been kicked out.

The writing style is a little different, but I agree it's really good.

My favorite that he wrote is probably Congo. I didn't like the movie as well as the book, but I really enjoyed the suspense.
