Any members of the old Make up Clique still around?

I'm still around too. :wave2:

I was at Sephora a couple weeks ago and I picked up a good hydrating moisturizer. After reading reviews on MakeupAlley.com in which quite a few people said after using it and the wrinkles literally disappeared, they realized their wrinkles were caused more by a lack of hydration and not using a good moisturizer. I headed right for a sample.

OMG! They were right! All this time, I thought because of various chronic illnesses, that I was just aging, and the after effects of illness had started to show on my face. My skin had begun to get a crepey texture too. :( But, I just simply needed to switch to a more HYDRATING moisturizer.

I followed the directions of one reviewer who posted that she reapplied it at first every few hours, as her skin seemed to drink it all in each time. After a couple days, my skin texture went from crepey and wrinkled to nice & plump now and the wrinkles are pretty much gone! I feel like I re-hydrated a raisin back into a grape! :woohoo: :lmao:

Now, I need a good face wash as I suppose that is stripping my skin of moisture too. My favorite one got discontinued a while ago. :(

I tried Cetaphil as it was supposed to be mild. My face felt really tight.
I can't stand the smell of Phisoderm. :snooty:
The Simple (brand) skincare cleanser did nothing. Too "simple" I guess. :p
I hate Dove soap as it seemed to leave a film on my face. :crazy2:
I tried ALL of Origins cleansers after my favorite of theirs, the Mint Wash, had been discontinued and all of the others were too drying. :upsidedow

I was going to try Philosophy's Purity Made Simple, which got great reviews. But some reviews say it has parabens which are supposed to be a bad thing, I guess. :confused3 Plus, it's really expensive.

I'd like something foamy, not creamy. But, I heard those tend to be more drying. :headache: And I'd like something that removes MAC foundation. Although, if there is a second thing that does that, I'm fine with that.

Any suggestions? :hyper:

I just started using Julep's Bare Face Cleansing Oil. Holy cow, it's amazing. You just rub it in, and it rinses clean with warm water. No tightness or dryness, no scrubbing, no film. It dissolves tough-to-remove makeup easily. It doesn't leave any residue, just really clean, soft skin. I don't think I could go back to a 'regular' cleanser.

Hey Imzadi!!! Have you tried First Aid? I also use Neutrogena wipes to get the makeup off first though

Hi Imzadi good to hear from you. What was the name of the hydrating moisturizer you got at Sephora? Cetaphil makes my face feel greasy. I used it for years but then after developing rosacea my face breaks out and is oily. This kills me, I did my time as a teenager.

Did anyone get the 50 Shades of Gray Kit from Make UP for ever? It was a huge deal, lip gloss, mascara, liner, lipstick and a pallet with 4 smokey colors in a decent reusable jewelry box...79.00! It cost more than that for the pallet with the 4 shadows! Check it out if they have any left at Sephora.

Has anyone picked up the new Naked Smoky from Urban Decay?

YES! I still haven't been able to master a smoky eye but I was helpless against the pull of a new palette. It's lovely.

Does anybody else love this site http://www.musingsofamuse.com/

LOVE THIS ONE. I am new to following beauty blogs but she's fantastic.

I'm liking Dr. Dennis Gross, but that's crazy expensive, as well. It's lasted me since I think May, though. I'll probably switch to something else in winter, but for now I paid for it, so I'm using it. (Works nicely with the Clarisonic, too.)

Hey all! Not sure if anyone is in the market for an amazing primer, but I recommend the Stila Aqua Glow Perfecting Primer. My makeup stayed put ALL day in Disney in June with it, and it still took two make up remover pads to get it off. It's my new holy grail product!

The Stila rep talked me into that at Ulta and I am so glad she did. Usually I am a Smashbox girl but that stuff is pretty amazing.

I will give a word of advice some primers don't mix well with certain foundations. I know Smashbox primer with Makeup Forever Foundation is a good example. The bases are different in it.

Does it have any 'cones' (dimentycone, silicone etc)in it?

Anyone shop at Misikko.com? I went to look for the website and cannot find it anymore.

I would love the name of that moisturizer.

Mandy,

I usually just travel with my brushes in a Vera brush/pencil case. I also have a set of travel brushes that I got at MAC which are a little smaller and make it so much easier to pack. I must say I am a sucker for brushes, I do not know why because in reality you only need a few basic ones. I bet I have over 200 hundred so any excuse to buy more makes me happy so I would just get myself a new set of travel brushes.

Also, does anyone watch gossmakeupartist on you tube? I really love him. He has so many tips that work well and btw, he has a line of brushes now.

Does anyone have any good acne face wash recommendations? I'm using/alternating between First Aid Beauty and Formula 1.0.6 I think is the name.

I really like the DMAE wash from Makeup Artist's Choice. The Green Tea wash is nice too.

Both are great for me -- I'm extremely sensitive to many ingredients and these both do a great job without causing breakouts.

Where do you find it??

Whoops! Sorry guys. I haven't been online much.

Anyway, the moisturizer I got from Sephora is this one:

http://www.makeupalley.com/product/showreview.asp/ItemId=156981/Vinosource-Intense-Moisture-Rescue-Cream/Caudalie/Moisturizers

You can even read how one Sephora sales lady said it's good for "raisins." Like I said I re-hydrated my skin from a raisin back to a grape! :woohoo: And others now say their skin is dewy soft. :thumbsup2 And I have skin that breaks out or clogs like I've been hexed with a "teenage skin" curse. :crazy2: But, this has not clogged my skin.

It IS incredibly thick and does not move well. It will stay sticky if you do not blend it in all the way. However, after I wash my face. I just lightly pat it with a towel, but leave most of the moisture still on my face and that adds enough moisture to help move the cream around. Alternately, I just flick my finger under running water for a split-second, shake off the excess, and that adds enough water onto my finger to help move and blend in the cream. :thumbsup2

Blend, blend, blend in well till well absorbed. For me, the days of a quick, single swipe of moisturizer over 20 year old skin is gone. I really need to blend the moisturizer down deep into the layers. I have actually found THAT is what stops the clogging. If it just sits in the top layer, I get those white bumps or break outs. When I blend in well, it's all absorbed in deep. :thumbsup2

It is REALLY expensive at $40 a small tube. So make sure you get a good sample from Sephora first.
