I have an accquaintance I know from work coming over next Monday that sells Mary Kay. She is going to help me figure out what makeup to wear for my wedding and show me how to apply it. I am an idiot when it comes to make up.... plus being tan and in the carribbean for the wedding I want my makeup to be better than the junk I usually manage to get on my face! :)

My question is what do I pay her? Tip her? I am not sure how this works.... I plan on buying probally about $100 worth of makeup from her.... at least foundation, powder what ever will help the make up stay on in the humidity of St. Thomas in October...

Thanks a bunch.. I have no idea what the protocol for this is!

I am actually discussing becoming a consultant right now & I know that they make 50% of whatever you buy so tipping would be unnecessary.

Does anyone know if there is a charge for the visit?

I don't think so....demos are part of the job

Yeah, I'm pretty sure they just do the "consultation" for free-it's pretty much a sales pitch for you to actually buy the makeup--so enjoy your free makeover and THEN worry about the wallet ;)

hi there! I'm a new Mary Kay consultant and tipping is definitely not necessary. Mary Kay consultants do pay 50% plus tax for all of their merchandise they offer and then in turn sell to you at retail value plus tax. That is how we earn our money.

Some Mary Kay consultants will offer specials from time to time, such as free gifts for orders over $40.00 or percentage discounts with each additional beauty class booked, etc...

Also, ask herabout the new bronzer set available, it would be ideal for you. It will even out your tan areas and help with that overall healthy summer glow...

Good Luck, any other information I can offer, let me know!! and Congratulations on your upcoming wedding...
