I see CanJet is offering a direct flight from Winnipeg to Orlando. 3 hour direct flight. That sounds too good to be true. It looks like around $450 after taxes. Good price too. Anyone used this, how was the service, flight, etc. It would be nice if they stuck around. I haven't heard anything about them though.

We flew on CanJet on a direct flight from Halifax to Orlando in December and it is great to have a direct flight. We left around 8:30 our time and were in Orlando in about 4 hours. It sure cuts off a lot of travelling time. This is the first year that CanJet has a direct flight and I would definitely go on it again. When we were returning to the airport in Orlando our taxi driver said he had never heard of CanJet which surprised me. Our plane was full both ways so it should be a popular airline.

I have noticed this too, the only hitch I see is that they go down on a Wednesday and back on a Tuesday. So its 6 days or 13. :confused3

The only thing to be aware of is that Canjet is a charter service, not a regular airline. They don't run flights in to Orlando every day - in fact from Winnipeg it's only once a week. Unlike regularly scheduled airlines that will generally take good care of you if there's a problem/delay/cancellation with the flight, Canjet as a charter carrier is under no obligation to do anything for you. Nothing, not a hotel room, not meals, nothing.

The difference between that and Westjet is that a) Westjet at least has flights twice a week and b) if there's a delay Westjet will typically do whatever they can to accommodate their passengers.

I was hoping someone tried it from Winnipeg as well. We tried for flights with West Jet but the flight times/dates were terrible for Feb so we ended up with Air Canada. Same price, much better flight times. I would chance a charter, we used to fly with Signature a few years ago when it was straight through. Once they stopped our flight, it didn't leave us with much so we stopped going for a few years. I love the fact that a charter has picked us up again and hopefully, we'll get some fair priced flights out of it. The prices we are being charged now are way way way higher than they were a few years ago, I assume because we have to go through Toronto and the tax increase, of course.
