Any luck with National ID's and Coupons codes

ANC96--- what other cars did you notice in the EXEC isle at MCO.
We have a Aug trip booked and I have the same level of service (free too);)
and very interested in my choice of cars. I original had a mini-van on hold but for the cost of the mid size for a full size car in the exec. level I couldn't pass up the deal and did that instead.

Thanks for letting me know what you saw.

We will be in Orlando Jul 19-30. I made a reservation back in February using the Contract ID 8572987 and the $20 Entertainment book coupon for a 7-passenger minivan and our total confirmed price was $516.35. Tonight I was able to use Contract ID 8572977 and the $30 printable coupon from the link and my price on the website shows as $338. The difference is substantial so do I cancel and re-book using the new Contract ID? But is this the "suspicous" Contract ID that might not be honored? I have the original reservation booked under my husband's Emerald ID. In the worst case, if they don't honor the $338 rate, will they honor the $516? Do I need to show a print out? It looks like the Contract ID we originally used in Feb no longer shows up as valid. Or if they don't honor the $338 rate will they just go with the current rate w/ no Contract IDs, which is currently over $900! Rather than risk that I might just stick with the original one!

just modify your original reservation and accept it if it's lower. You have the option of keeping or accepting the change so you won't lose the original regardless.

Thanks Donna. For some reason if I modified it, I thought it would be deleted. I thought I read someone else tried to change a reservation (but it may have been made with a "suspicious code" and it was deleted.

i remember years ago, it was set up different and you had to cancel one to get the other. I like this way better cause you have both on one screen and can just pick the lower.

Glad to hear you didn't have any problems with the code. Can you please tell me what cars were on the executive aisle?

Thanks

we got in around 9 pm @ LAS to garage, there were lots of different types:

minivans
suburban
trucks
crossovers
full size suvs
mid size suvs
even a hummer...which i was tempted to snag; afraid how much gas it'd use driving 5+ hours each way to Grand Canyon:scared1:
only 1 full size car though that was quickly grabbed by somebody else

wound up with Buick Enclave, low miles; very luxe.

Ok this may be a little silly questions but what's the difference between emerald and executive isle?

The 77 code is the International travel division code for TQ3 and I heard that they do ask for out of USA country Passports on this one.

I just booked 5 nights the first week of August with the 77 code and it accepted a $20 coupon, $118.92 including insurance for a mid size, I have an out of USA passport what do you think ?????. Has anyone rented and returned with this one,
Thanks

Emerald Aisle is for the general members and Executive aisle is for the members who meet a certain criteria each year. We are Executive aisle members and meet the criteria of renting 40 days a year to maintain this status. We can choose from either aisle when selecting.

oh ok, i don't have ent' book but i was using the $30 from nat'l. maybe it only works with that coupon. I can get mid size for 3 days for $109 but my weekly is $189 for a compact! yuck! I just need a fri-mon rental really, to go to church and store. Our RV will be parked and connected at fort wilderness and we don't want to bother undoing all that.

I booked a minivan using the "67" code along with the $35.00 off coupon with National for a minivan from July 3-12. It came to $258.07. We picked the van up at MCO and had no problem. I even asked if it was OK for myself and my daughters to ride ME while DH and DS drove the car since my name was on the rental. I was told it was fine. We got a great van (Toyota Sierra). We had it for one day when the "Check engine" light went on. After being put on hold for 38 minutes I finally got through to a real live person. I thought that they were going to have to have them look at the agreement and then perhaps we would have to start answering questions, nope, they asked for contract number and after checking it he told us to just keep driving the van. They said it was probably the oil filter (the car just hit 7000 miles.) Ok we did and we returned it and we were charged $258.07.
My SIL booked with National using the same codes for July 5 -12. She picked up her car at the Disney Car Care Station and she had a terrible time. The man there told her she could not use the code. He told her she would have to re-book a car at the price it was going for now. He asked her where she found the code etc. She said she had GOOGLED it and that code came up as a curtosy code. She was petrified and called me on the phone. I had written down the name of the person I had spoken to about the car engine because he did check my contract and said there was no problem even if we needed road side assistance. I was going to give her the name but the man kept calling people and stepping out of the room and she never got a chance to even tell him. He also called someone and told them that they needed to check on this code to see why it was working!! (he did that in front of her) When he finally came back I guess she told him that she had a contract and she wanted to know exactly why he was not going to honor it. He said that FL does not offer that rate with all the insurance etc. He said he would get her the same rate but he would have to take off a few extras. She ended up getting the car cheaper then the original quote but she didnt really know what was included. I didnt get to see the contract so I have no idea what he took off. She returned the car to MCO with me today and just drove it in and dropped it off no questions asked. My DH was with her when she picked up the carand he said it was scary for a little while. He said the man was polite but very angry and upset that she was able to use the code online to book. He never gave her an clear answer as to why he was upset except for she was getting extras included and he commented on the low low price. He also never said that she was ineligable to use the code because she was not a TA etc.
I just wanted people to be aware that she had trouble...I had none at all. Maybe only use it at MCO where it is not counter service.

Another issue with the code--and these are the only ones being posted. Wonder how many we don't know about by people who don't post on disboards? People really need to decide if it is worth it!

I just got back and used the 67 code with no problem at MCO. Just wanted to pass on our experience. I'm not sure if it was a fluke or what but no one said a word to us about the code, etc!

Today 8572977 does not work for my dates of Jul 19-30. I have a previous reservation booked with another code and it is twice the cost of the current quote I get for a minivan (no coupons/contract IDs) but my old reservation is still about $175 more than the 8572977 rate I got a few days ago. Guess I should have booked it but I was scared to use a code I didn't qualify for.....

Hi-

I reserved a fullsize car, Emerald Reserve (no EA at CAK), 7/3-7/9, using *67 code at Akron airport with a coupon from BJ's. No questions, no problems, everything went as I expected it to. Today I am trying to make a reservation, EA at Cleveland, for 8/14-8/18. National says the *67 and *77 codes are invalid, and I cannot use the BJ's membership ID with the National $30 off e-coupon; they will only take BJ's coupons with BJ's membership ID, national coupons with National ID. I have NEVER had this happen before- they've always been fine with mixing codes, coupons, and ID's. Have they finally realized how much "mixing and matching" has been going on and maybe how much $$$ they've missed out on?

Well, the "number" codes you note aren't for the American general public, anyway. They include insurance...and National Rental car isn't running a special giving away free insurance and free taxes to the US public. :rotfl:
National's rental numbers on these codes that have been googled and traded probably far exceed what was expected with the private corporations that contracted them, or the #'s of bona fide international travelers that reserved a rental car.
Probably because of all the goofy coding (flyertalk for change a number here or there and see what the rate is...) going on they have tightened up the restrictions, even on codes that many in the US could have used with a legitimate coupon as long as they had a BJ's, Costco, or other ID.
Such is life. Everyone experiences the consequences for the goofy coding, and the booking of those private, corporate codes by those that actually aren't authorized to book them.

Actually, I was given the *67 code by the travel agency that it is assigned to. She just used my BJ's coupon in addition to their code, which was confirmed both by the travel agent AND numerous times by National (see previous posts in this thread) that it is a courtesy code available to the public. NOT a GOOFY code! That's all I need, to end up picking up a car and paying "rack rate"! although I guess a "goofy" code would be appropriate for a trip to WDW, huh :)
