We have been told Albertsons is cheaper than Publix. I need opinions from
any locals….true? Is quality and selection same? And where can I find the weekly ad for the closest Albertsons to Disneyworld?

TIA!

If your main focus is on saving $, probably WalMart or Target would be cheapest, but very crowded. Publix prices are a little higher, about the same as our high end markets here in Texas, but usually less expensive than Whole Foods. And I can get into Publix, shop, and get out a lot quicker. Because let's face it, on vacation, time is a commodity. IF the Albertsons in FL are anything like the Albertsons we had here in Texas, they aren't that much cheaper. Our Albertsons couldn't compete in the San Antonio area, they've all closed and sold to a Texas based grocer.

As locals, we prefer Publix.

The closest (and only) Albertsons in Central Florida is located in Altamonte Springs which is approx. 30 miles north of WDW. Publix purchased something like 49 of the Albertsons locations. Albertsons ended up closing all but 4 of the FL Locations they didn't sell.

Thank you. Very interesting. Does anyone know if Albertsons still allows you to fax your order and they will have it ready for pick up?

If the closest Albertsons is 30 miles away, you're looking at over an hour driving round trip, probably closer to 90 minutes with surface street traffic...is it really worth it? If you're really looking for the cheapest, stick with Walmart or Target, they're much closer to WDW and someone else isn't picking out your produce and bread.

I've never found publix to be that expensive.

And albertsons stores can be very different from each other. The ones here, beforehand all closed, were ugly with a low selection of things we use. There were two things they Carrie that weren't anywhere else so we would go every so often. Whereas when they were open in my brother's area, down in San Diego, they were really nice. Our stores were exactly the opposite from each other, with Safeway/Vons (same company) being junky down there and albertsons being nice. But I still as little difference in price between the two.

I'd just go with publix, personally.

There used to be an Albertsons on the way to WDW, right off 417 exit 9 (I think that's where). I've got to admit that we haven't stopped for several years-so is it gone now?

It either closed or became a Publix.

We wish that they had a Publix here in TX. We really like their deli fried chicken so every stay we phone in an order to have fresh fried chicken ready for pick up.

:thumbsup2and we enjoy their rotisserie chicken dinner too!

There are no Albertsons near Disney and the last few left were nasty. The Publix stores are amazing. They always have lots of buy one get one sales, and two for sales where you get the sale price if you only buy one. Deli, produce and bakery are great. There is always Walmart if you need to save money...but stocking is poor.

I am local and LOVE my Publix. Pick up things at Walmart or Target, but always Publix for my main shopping. Clean, friendly service.

There is a really nice Publix in Celebration. If you must shop at Walmart, the Walmarts near Disney at best are a horrible experience.
Maybe you could try Target, there is one just up the road from AKL.

I know, I love Publix. So much nicer than HEB or WalMart.

There aren't any Publix up north. I look forward to our shopping trips there (we go to the Water Tower Place store in Celebration)! We love their bakery and their friendly employees.

Walmart had the best food prices. Target has a better meat department and slightly higher prices. Publix is clean, friendly but has so-so produce and is quite expensive.

There aren't any Albertsons here.
