Any limit to how long you can stay?

Is there any limit to how long you can book a campsite for? We're looking into getting an RV (we're newbies to the whole thing!) Also happen to be teachers, so 2 months in the summer at the fort sounds heavenly! Also, any advice about which RV you all prefer? THANKS!!

You can play as long as you can pay. However, you can only book 30 days per reservation.

We prefer Jayco RV's.

Ask 10 people and you will probably get 10 different answers. We love our Itasca. It has been relatively problem free and it doesn't leak. Talk to enough RVers and they will tell you horror stories. We have been lucky so far.

I heard at one time there was something called a work camper program (or something like that) in which you could camp long term if you had a part time job at WDW. Does anyone know if that is true?

I am glad to hear that you are looking to buy a camper. We bought a Starcraft 28' bunk house. My wife really loves it and I like it. We bought it mainly because of the floorplan. I wanted a fiberglass sided unit but had to settle with a alum sided one. My DW said she would help wash it if we got it, NOT. It has a superslide (sofa & dinet) on one slide and a slide for the bunks on the other. Having the slideouts helps greatly with the interior room, especialy if you get stuck in the rain.

Go to camping shows, ask questions and see what dealers are near you. You may have to return to the dealer for warranty work or repairs. Do some research on the web for a brand you are looking at.

Watch for options that come in and out of the camper. For us, I didn't realize there were no light switches on the walls until we picked it up. It wasn't a real problem but our DS at the time could not reach the switch on the ceiling.

Also make sure you check your vehicle's towing capacity. That will play a major part in what you get.

Look for a big awning, it will help on the sunny and rainy days.

No, there is no longer any sort of work camper program associated with Fort Wilderness.

There are many campers that stay long term over the winter, or over the summer, and many of them do work part time at Disney, but as far as the campsite, they pay the same rates and compete for the same discounts that everyone else does. (Although once they are employed, they may be able to qualify for a general Cast Discount).

The type of work category that you would want to apply for is Casual Temporary. For your initial employment, you have to give them 6 weeks, then after that, you can work a few days whenever you are there. There is a probably a minimum number of days you need to work per year to stay on the roles, but don't know the details on all of that.

I agree that everyone has a different opinion on what is the best RV, or even what is the best TYPE RV. For some it's a popup, for others a travel trailer, a fifth wheel, or a motorhome. Do visit RV shows or vendors and see what you like. See what you DON'T like. Towing? What with? Slide out? How many? Front bedroom, rear bedroom, split bath or side bath. Oven or convection oven. Sofa, sofa bed, or recliners. 20 feet or 40 feet? For the Fort it MUST have air conditioning. Learn to use all the systems including water, electricity, cable/satellite, and of course sewage. Get something in your budget that you can enjoy...except maybe the sewage part. And post back here to let us know what you decided.
