I've heard good things about this from a friend of mine and am thinking about trying it (Maybe buying a sample kit from Ebay?)

Just wanted to get some comments from others who may have tried it. Also, how do you decide if you are a Med or Light? I've never thought of myself as fair, but my Clinique foundation is the second lightest shade, so I assume I'd be fair for the Bare Essentials.

TIA!
Lori P. :)

Hi Lori,

I run a forum on Delphi for fans of Bare Escentuals. I've run it for 4 1/2 years now, and it's a wealth of info! BE is a great product, and I really suggest getting the infomercial kit at www.bareminerals.com so you have all the right tools to apply the product. Since the #1 foundation (Fair) doesn't come in an infomercial kit, I would go with the light kit that has #1.2 and #2 foundations in it. I am pretty fair, and I wear the 1.2.

Also, if you ever come to Atlanta, you can visit a BE boutique at Lenox mall. There's nothing like a visit to the BE boutique.

Please let me know if you have any questions at all or want the link to the Delphi board.

I've tried BE and love it. I am very light, and the infomercial kit worked well for me. Recently I also bought eye shadow and eyeliner from the local Ulta store, and it's the first time in 10 years eye makeup hasn't caused red & itchy eyelids. Supposedly nothing in it (no chemicals) to irritate, just bare minerals.

I heard somewhere that they will be opening a Bare Escentuals botique in ORLANDO!!!! I believe it's scheduled to open at the end of the summer. My friend and I are hoping to go when we're there in September for a 'hands on' demonstration.

Hi  Mrs. Milo!!!!!!

I love it. I hated to wear foundation. Didn't like the way it felt. But with BE it never feels like I have anything on ( my face that is)

I have gotten my mother and sisters to try it also and they love it.

My first one I bought thru the infomercial, now I but refills on QVC, Just like the convenience of it.

Try it, you'll love it.

I love the Mineral Veil ......... once you try it, you will be hooked.

I have a TON of it that I need to put on ebay. My MIL has given me a bag of unopened BE that she doesn't want and I can't use.
Maybe I can get rid of it there.......

I love it also. I think I have every color foundaton they have! Different times of the year I can wear them all. I think they are very forgiving!

Try it! Make sure you have the correct brush for the foundation. My sister who doesn't like foundation wears this as does my little niece (15) when she wears any. It is so easy to apply!

I love Bare Minerals foundation. It's very natural looking and feeling.

About two years ago (I think), I first tried it by buying a "Try Me" sampler from QVC. I don't know if they still offer it, but if they do, I think it's a great way to start.

It came with an eyeliner (that I have used almost every day and still have plenty of), the foundation (love this stuff!), Warmth (I don't care for this product), and brushes to apply the foundation and eyeliner.

I've bought refill foundations from QVC a few times since then. One jar lasts me a long time--I'd never hook up with an auto-ship program because I don't use enough.

I have been thinking about trying it, also....Is it a powder that turns into a foundation? Does it give good coverage?

I love it too. I've been using it for over a year now. The only con that I've found is that it's difficult to travel with. But, other than that, it's great! You have to at least give it a try.

I love it!! (and I'm on the site McK. sited!! I have to say that it is a wonderfully informative site, if not a bit overwhelming, I still am lost on the eye makeup end, even tho there are lots of pics, but I'm still overwhelmed!!)

Its strictly a powder, but I dip my brush (ok cant find my brush, so Iused my finger today, and the coverage over those age spots, and those redness areas are complete!!) I bought a kit at the Ultra store in my area... check your Sunday ads.... if there is a store near you, they will advertise in the Sunday papers, and the Ulta stores let you try it on!! It was cheaper than the QVC, and I was so intrigued with the infomercials, I had to try it!! I blend my color, I tan very well and I think I have a 3, but when I needed to replace it I went back to Ulta, and couldnt believe one pak was 25, but when I got home and looked at how much bigger it was than the sample I had, I calmed down!! Again, the coverage for me is fantastic, I use the "warmth" to blend my tan with the 3 the mineral veil tends to set the makeup, so much better than the pressed powders I've used...

I love the eye colors, but I'm not sure I've done the "foiling technique" I use a base I have gotten from a store an Estee Lauder product, its a concealer someone told mewas a great base to keep my eye makeup from creasing, and itmakes my eye color stay on so much longer!!

Just wondering how to take all 3 of these powders to WDW tho!! I dont like the compact they've sold so far I just take the sample paks but think there has to be a better way!

They are also opening a boutique in Charlotte, NC and Schaumburg, IL this year. I think the Orlando boutique will be early fall, but I haven't heard a definite date yet.

Please, please visit my Delphi board to find out where you can get your BE cheaper than QVC. The shipping there kills me. The best deals on QVC are the TSVs and kits, but singles are better purchased at a BE boutique or from an online source like Dermstore and Face, Etc. Both offer BE discounts. If you go to the Let's Go Shopping link from the start page of my forum, you'll see the coupon codes.

It's crushed minerals that look like a powder. It doesn't turn to foundation, but it gives you great coverage without the heavy feeling of a liquid foundation. It's so unique that it's hard to describe.

I'm so glad you're on my forum! It can be overwhelming - I came home to over 3000 messages after being gone 10 days. YIKES! If you ever have any question, you can IM me here or just throw a post out in the forum. Someone will help you out.

Foiling is great! Take a damp brush and dip it into your minerals and apply it. You get a more intense wash of color. If that's too much, you can use a taklon brush, like the BE concealor brush, to apply the shadows to get a more intense color. I love how versatile the products are.

Traveling can be a bit daunting. If you go to the Let's Go Shopping page from the Start page of the forum, you'll see a link to Lorraine's Brushes. She has a travel bag that is great. I used it when we went to Disney earlier this summer, and I was able to bring along a lot of stuff! I won't leave home without my BE!!

I'm in the minority. I hated it. It made my skin itch, burn and turn orange. I don't know why, but it could be because I'm allergic to everything under the sun. I liked the concealer stuff, just not the foundation.

You could possibly be allergic to the Bismuth Oxychloride in the BE products. There is a great mineral line out there that does not have Bismuth in it, www.corycosmetics.com. The owner is great!

I'm very curious about this stuff... I wear no foundation because I hate the look of it. After my accident last year my sister put a great concealer on me and now I'd like to try this stuff to check it out.

There is a shop here in the Lenox Mall and I understand they carry it at Ulta. Since I'm African American I would like to see if it works for my skin before I commit to buying it on eBay, which btw has some great prices!

Robin, there is a great event going on at Lenox this Saturday all day. They will have makeup artists there doing makeunders, and the president of the company will also be there between 12-2. They are booked on the makeunders, but you could come and watch some of them being done and talk to the SAs about the correct color for you. You can get samples at the boutique to try it out before you buy. I highly suggest getting their foundation brush if you do get samples because the tools are really important to the correct application. Also, for every $120 you spend at a boutique, you can get a punch card for $10 off your next purchase. I don't suggest shopping at Ulta, especially since you are in Atlanta, because the SAs there are not as well trained at the ones in the boutique.

When I was last in the boutique, an African American lady was in there telling me that she wore #3 which is really light! I'm super pale, and I used to wear #3. I was stunned when she told me this, but she looked great!!

Thanks !! I have to admit the Delphi forum is on the other computer, and I havent been, but I do know I love the information!! The pictures of the different eye techniques dont always process on my computer, but I'm always fascinated - thank you for clarifying the foil technique - and you are right, anytime I've posted a question, very friendly informative responses are made!!

I agree that the Ulta counters you get no good advice!! I just watch the infomercials over and over, then I went to Ulta, and went with it, they were having a special, and had the kit available, so my first kit I go3 small samples (mineral veil, the bronzer/warmth and the basic plus 2 brushes and 2 eye colors, and the cost was $30!! I'm still using the warmth and mineral veil - I bought it before THANKSGIVING!! I did need more foundation, and I"m using 3, and I have a tan face (that's very blotchy w/o minerals!)

My face is so blotchy I originally went into Ulta to try the derma blend the Ulta person there applied it to my face, and I looked at her and said, is it just me or cant you still see this blotchy area? She tap danced... and I was very discouraged, so many people tell me I have dirt on my face!! I have tried different concealers etc, they may hide it for a small amount of time, but it wears off quickly...

Bare Minerals, does a complete job, and they actually cover like the infomercials imply!! I cant afford to spend so much on myself at this time (I have priorities... lol that sounded dumb knowing I'm going to disney!!) Anyway, I get coupons at Ulta, I try out colors there, and I dont pay for shipping...

Thanks for the heads up about a location in Schaumburg, I'm wondering if that is Woodfield Mall - I went there after watching the first infomercial knowing they'd have a store there - I got confused going into the Origin store!

I dont wear eye makeup in the summer - too much camping!!
