Any kitty sightings lately?

I went on the morning Power Walk through DCA for GC guests over Memorial Day weekend, twice. I asked our guide about the cats (since we saw one right away, and he said hello to it). He said they have 13 at DL, and 11 or 12 at DCA. Whenever a new one appears, they trap it, spay/neuter, get shots, and clip it's ear so they know it's one of "theirs". One orange kitty was hanging out by Blue Sky Cellar, he said he sees that one every morning, and the regular CMs get to know them. That kitty seemed to wait to see him, and he talked to it.

He also said that the DL kitties are smart. Tom Sawyer Island apparently has a LOT of rats, who swim across the Rivers of America after closing to come get the trash. But guess who is waiting for them on the other side? The DL kitties! :rotfl: I agree, it's a humane approach to a pest control issue. The cats have no predators in the parks, are treated well, and have all the vermin they want. No wonder they look so big!

I'm used to looking for hidden Mickeys at WDW; I can't wait to look for hidden Kitties at DLR and DCA!:)

Saw an orange one at Thunder Ranch about a month ago while eating at the Round-up. My group was sitting right by the rocks and it spent a considerable amount of time just hanging out there (we jokingly called it the mountain lion), looking for either hand-outs (two little girls threw food to it while the CM standing nearby pretended not to notice) or a safe way to get down to the ground. Apparently, there's housing for the cats behind the park.

Here's a picture of the "mountain lion" (sorry it's so big):

I swear the cat posed for the picture. It was just walking along, but as soon as it saw my camera, it stopped and looked right at me, and then moved on as soon as I put the camera down.

That's really cool, and I hope it's true, but... I dunno what it means in regards to the pretty calico at WWS who I've personally seen have one litter of babies, and the staff who told me she's had multiple litters :(

Recently, I've seen 1 cat that's dark brown w/ stripes & has long hair down by the cast member area of lower Hungry Bear by the river (if that makes any sense) lol. It kinda looks like my neighbor's evil cat, but this Disney one is nice bc it looks @ me when I wave @ it. :goodvibes

Here a kitty we saw at Hungry Bear in July of last year. He was very friendly, letting us pet him and everything. Was this the one you saw?

Love the pics of all the pretty kitties! :lovestruc Hope we see a bunch there on our trip and would love to be able to pet and talk to one (yes, I'm one of those crazy animal people!)

What a pretty cat-- looks to be a female with all the white and delicate facial features.

Oh, what a great picture! That kitty is beautiful!

I've had interaction (lol) with a cat down by Hungry Bear, but that was a few years back, and I only saw her (him?) once. I think she was semi long haired, gray. I know I have a pic, I could always try to dig it up if anyone really wants to see it.

I love the mama calico over at WWS. She's there almost every time I go. I've been there once when she had kittens with her, too.. and I don't want to brag too much, but I held two of them, lol!! I could also dig up that picture if anyone's interested, too. But the mama is soo sweet and friendly, especially if you give her food ;)

I remember those pics :).

Some cats-- even though the are friendly are really hard to trap. If they had people come in to trap, maybe she managed to elude them a few times. They really are like rabbits...that's why it's so important to spay and neuter. I think because she's so pretty maybe some people wanted kittens from her, people don't understand though, the way the gene pools work with cats-- you can get any color combination any time for kitties lol.

That just means she's too smart to fall for some dumb old trap. So, if you get a chance to adopt one of her kittens, go for it because the kittens will probably be smarter than the average cat. (The last part is best read in a Yogi Bear voice.)

I gave a mama calico all the cheese off my biscuit from WWS a couple mornings ago. She then hopped down and went from table to table. She is a little more tame than some:lovestruc

You know, last weekend I actually saw 3 cats in the same location I talked about in my 1st post, so I'm sure that this was 1 of the cats that I saw. I was so excited when I saw 3 Disney cats @ 1 time!

If you go to visit Miss Kitty though be sure and save your whitewater snack receipt to get back in-- they are monitoring that entrance right now because of WOC. She's usually there in the mornings.

I saw a calico at WWS (not sure if it was Mama Calico or not!) last Saturday around 1:00 in the afternoon.

I have never seen cats eat table scraps? Mine sure didn't.....what kind of "food" are you sharing that they eat?
