Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of any groups( dance, sports, cheer or tour)that might be at the value resorts in March. Our dates are 3/14-3/18 for DD"s BDay, we are staying a long weekend. Thanks in advance.

You have to worry about the Spring Break crowd during the dates that you're going. Anything else would be better to deal with than to deal with the Spring Break crowd; yikes! Expect lines to be longer than normal :scared1: and the hotel prices at a premium during your visit, if you haven't already priced it.

no - well not so far.

the AAU basketball starts on March 20 (my birthday) next year.

I know a local school is going March 10-15 - staying at one of the values

:goodvibes

The 2008 NASCC (all star cheer competition) is the weekend prior to your trip, so you should be okay. I know that the gyms in our area always stay at the all-star resorts but it looks like you will miss them!

Usually high school and college track meets that stay there the middle three weekends in March. 3 meets - 3 weekends in a row. Most years when my DS went there were cheerleaders there as well. This year the tenative date for them to be there is the 13-16th. Nothing in stone yet. They are always offered allstars and CBR, last year they tried for POP and was told no blocks of rooms are booked there, so they offered us POR. We opted to stay with all stars and save the money.

when do they put these things on the Disney calender?

Disney event/Broadcast Schedule.

I will say that the Disney Sports website has been hit or miss last couple months, and really aggravating to those who use that venue. Very often it will pop up the page isn't even available. The event schedule lists some things we are interested in, but you can't get information past that point, just the message that the page is not available. Ugh.

For high school events I do know they must be sanctioned by State Sports Associations so they may wait until they get at minimum Florida approval. So far it looks like they have sanctioned very few, as has Georgia, maybe they are behind for one reason or another.

Those middle weeks are usually the Disney Relays, Disney Track & Field Showcase and Disney Track Invitational. Three meets, three weeks in March.

National All Star Cheerleading Championship March 7-9, 2008 is posted on several sites. I found six cheer and dance events scheduled at Disney on other sites for Jan-March, but Disney Sports only lists one. Could it be that when they do not use the actual sports venue (often they are in the Indiana Jones arena) they don't post them ??

My theory is that they will not post ever or until they have to....don't want to scare off guests.

Most of those groups sound fine away :goodvibes . I was thinkg more of Pop warner ype of crowd or tour group from Brazil with not enough adult chaperones. I guess I will stick with POP in case though.

As I said we attempted to book our team at POP last year and was told they do not book blocks of rooms there. No guarantees but I would imagine that is the safest of the value options. I have been 3 times and never saw any groups or buses.

Wide World of Sports is sponsoring lacrosse tournaments in March. We will be there from 3/17 thru 3/21. Other high schools will be there the week prior and after. Hotel choices were the All Stars and the CB. Hope this helps.

Twirlmania is in February, the weekend closest to the 15th, but they mostly stay in the All Stars too. They spend all their days at WWoS so when they get to the resorts, they are too exhausted to be a problem. I carried DD16 there several years back.... boy was that fun!!!!

I stumbled onto this site http://www.varsity.com/index.asp?landing=11 (If you drill down enough, you can see what resort WDW is offering) when looking to see whether our dates would be during one of these blasted events. It will :sad2: but only at the end.

Wouldn't you think that during basketball season they would stay home and cheer for their school team?:confused3

Twirlmania books ASMusic and POP. I did POP last year and the twirlers were minimal and like Shmily says they are competing or too tired to do anything too troublesome.

This year I am trying the ASMusic.
