I'm doing gift certificates for both. MIL lives with DIL in only one bedroom in a huge house, so she has no space and my Mom is downsizing to a 4 bedroom condo. So neither has space for knick-knacks etc.
I'm sending my MIL flowers and a food basket with an orchid corsage for church. My MIL has so much clutter that I refuse to add to it. I wanted to buy her something consumable.
All my "Moms" are getting Super Certificates from GiftCertificates.com.
I checked out 1-800 Flowers and FTD, but the service and delivery charges to send flowers (even to have them delivered on Thursday or Friday) were almost more then the flowers themselves.
They can use the Certificates at stores or restaurants.
I'm sending my mom a phone card and overseas stamps. I started the phone card idea a couple years ago and wasn't sure how it would go over but, she loves it! Now she lets me know when her minutes are about to run out . Also, much of her family is in Ireland and at .90 a letter to mail that can add up.
Well since we are going to Disney World in October, I thought it would be kind of fun to give my mom some Disney Dollers! Then she can pick out something very special at the parks that she likes!
This wouldn't be a good idea to ship, but we have our DD make a stepping stone for Mom's garden each year with her handprint and date. Mom has them all lined up in the garden- it's cool to see how she's grown every year!
This year I am giving her a Mom appreciation letter. A top ten list of things I can look back and appreciate especially now that I am a Mom myself. It is in rough draft form now but will finalize it before I see her this weekend
