Ok, next May I will be spending a week in Southern California. Flying in to San Diego on a Saturday evening and flying out of LAX the next Friday early afternoon.

My general plan is as follows:
Arrive at San Diego about 7:30 pm, pick up rental car and go to a hotel near SeaWorld.
Spend Sunday at SeaWorld
Check out of the hotel by 7 am Monday, drive to LegoLand to arrive by opening, leave at closing (estimated at 6 pm) and then drive to Anaheim and check into DGC.
Spend Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at DL and DCA.
Checkout Friday morning and go to LAX by noon to catch my flight back.

My question becomes, is my Monday plan doable? Right now, it will be just me on the trip (I might have a couple of friends join me, those discussions are still ongoing). I'm just not sure if the timing works, as I am completely unfamiliar with traffic in southern California.

Traffic is usually bad from 6am to about 9am.. evening traffic can start around 4:30 or so till maybe 7pm

Traffic all along the highway? Or is it more centralized around the cities? Where I'm from, we have "rush hour" that lasts about 45 minutes (8:30-9:15 and 4:45-5:15) and only significantly impacts traffic flow through the city and for about 10 miles outside. Once you are outside that range, there is no discernible affect on the traffic.

And thanks for the input!! Will it make a difference that my trip will be the week of Memorial Day? So my travel day will actually be Memorial Day Monday.

Usually the traffic times are Monday- Friday which are the rush hour times. That is freeway times. Along these freeways all kinds of things go on and slow everything way down. Memorial day should be fine, a lot of people will be off work.

You shouldn't have trouble with traffic if it's Memorial Day. The majority of traffic in San Diego is centered around Sorrento Valley, about twenty minutes North of Downtown, basically where the 5 and 805 merge/split. The 805 is worse than the 5, and seeing as you're staying by Sea World, you'll be taking the 5 all the way up to Legoland. But again, since it's Memorial Day, you shouldn't have a problem.
