i found a website for this while doing a search on freeport, it looks like a beautiful place to spend the day at a reasonable rate, has anyone ever done this and if so any tips on how to get there and back? any other suggestions for freeport?

have been in touch with someone from the "garden" and was told i could get there by taking a cab to the international bazaar, and picking up a bus from there.has anyone ever taken a cab to the bazaar ? can you tell me how long of a ride that is and about what price to expect to pay? we will be trying to get to the garden on our cruise in november the website shows a beautiful 12 acre garden with petting zoo , waterfalls, tropical birds and much more .if it is half as beautiful in person it will be well worth the effort. last time we did not get off the ship in freeport and i know many people don't . but if we have a good experience there i will be sure to post it as another option to staying onboard.
thanks, tomi

Sorry, I don't have any info on Garden of the Groves, but do have some info on Freeport. It will take you about 10-15 minutes to get to International Bazaar by cab and it's $5 per person. It's 20 minutes to get to Port Lucaya and the same price. I highly recommend going to Port Lucaya. The cast members on the ship convinced us to get off at Freeport and we're so glad that we did! There is nice shopping at Port Lucaya with "regular" stores and a straw market. It's kind of like the best of both worlds. Then walk across the street to the Westin Breakers where the beach is simply gorgeous! We were there in January and it was kind of cool, so the beach was deserted. We just looked for a bit and didn't stay long, but now I wish we had. The people are also friendlier in Freeport than Nassau. We only encountered one slightly rude person. I also felt safer in Freeport. Hope this helps.
