This movie was released and vaulted before DH became a crazy collector of Disney DVD's, does anyone know that with the release of 3 and re-release of the original if there is ever any plans to re-release Cinderella 2??

Good lord I hope that never happens. If you ever want Disney to create quality animation again, you will tell your DH and anybody else to stop buying this cheap direct to DVD crap. As long as people like you (or DH) continue purchasing this garbage, Disney will continue to put it out and thus further cheapen the rest of their animation.

While I agree in spirit with Mr. exDS, to each his/her own.

I've seen the trailer for C3 and I don't remember any mention of C2. Usually, when they have other sequels out they mention them at the end of the trailer. So I don't know for sure, but I'm just guessing they aren't pulling C2 out again. (I actually didn't know it was vaulted).

For what its worth, I did actually see C2, and in all honesty, it was the worst of the home video sequels that I've seen, with the exception of An Extremely Goofy Movie.

Pochahontas 2 was pretty bad... as well some of those Beauty and the Beast sequels :guilty: Oh yah.. and Tarzan and Jane :sad2:

I have ranted on this subject before, and have been criticized by experts who assumed that I did not see any of them. When I was a Disney Store manager, we always had advance copies of these videos before they were released, and we kept them playing backstage for other CM's to see.

The only exception I would ever consider making to my Disney sequel generalization is the Beauty and the Beast Christmas one. The music in it was pretty good. I looked forward to Hunchback 2 and was let down. Lion King 2:Simba's Pride sucked, as did Scamp's Adventure and the Peter Pan sequel. I'm sure I'm missing a couple. And I'll admit that I did not watch all of most of these.

I stand by my long-standing opinion that if Disney was serious about making good quality sequels, they would give them budgets and spend the money to create quality theatrical releases out of them. I think they could have done a good job with a real Lion King sequel if they wanted to. Same with Aladdin.
Very few of these films (in my opinion) have ever warranted a sequel. And making sequels of Walt's original classics is just a crime.

That being said, the last animated Disney film I enjoyed was "Fantasia:2000". True, this was a sequel, but it was done the right way. It took years to create, and it was Walt Disney himself who had the vision of additional installments of the film.

Peter Pan II : Return to Neverland
Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea
Cinderella II: Return it to the store where you purchased it

I have to admit that I liked all 4 Lilo and Stitch movies, excluding "Stitch has a Glitch." Most sequels are pretty bad, (but Toy Story 2 was great!) but Cindrella 3 might be good if they did it right. It looks okay from the previews.

I would not include Toy Story for a couple of reasons. First, it was not Disney, but Disney/Pixar. A whole different entity at the time it was produced. Second, this was a theatrical sequel, and not a direct to DVD one. It should have been better than a DVD sequel and it was. The only way to do a Cinderella sequel right would be not to do it at all. I have seen the previews, and they make me want to hurl.

Its very difficult to satisfactorily build on happily ever after. Not that they really try to.

We got Cinderella III and it's *much* better than Cinderella II. The second one was such a disappointment. The characters didn't even look the same. In the third one, the animation was done to actually look like the original movie. I thought it was pretty good.

I have heard that Cinderella 2 is horrible - but unfortunately DH has become a Disney movie collector addict - and has 155 movies. Sadly, Cinderalla and Cinderella 3 look lost without 2. I do agree that many of the sequels are bad - but I really want this for my collection.

eBay? Otherwise, you may be waiting for its next release from... "the vault"

Please correct me if I am wrong, but I thought Cinderella 2 had Anastasia ending up with the baker (we saw it at a friend's house), and in 3, they all go back in time.

Not sure there is any continuity there, so probably not much missed.:confused3

That is why I posted here - it is selling for $80 on ebay, and these are probably bootlegs from Malaysia!!! I really don't want to pay $80 for a bad movie.

Like I said though, I really don't want to watch the movie, I want it for my collection...

The continuity of Anastasia and the baker is referenced during the closing credits of Cinderella 3.

I have to admitt that I too am a purist. In general I hate the straight to DVD sequals. I always bulk when my kids ask for them. My DD4 really wants Cinderella 3 and I may have to bite the bullet and buy it for her. Glad to hear some of you thought it wasn't as bad as some of the other movies.

I agree with you, every direct-to-video sequel I've seen was horrible - with one exception. The Lion King 1 1/2 video was, I thought, actually pretty well done. Not up to the standards of the original, and going for a few cheap/crude laughs along the way, but overall, pretty good. And, it was a clever way to follow the original, while still having a somewhat compelling storyline. At least it was an interesting way to do a sequel, rather than the standard approaches. It seemed like they even had the original voice cast back.

It was done very well, though I didn't find the musical selections to be optimal. I wouldn't put that one (or Toy Story 2) in the same category as the other sequels, though.

I'm would agree that TS2 is a very good sequel as well. I liked about half of the music in Fantasia2000. Rhapsody in Blue is one of my all-time favorite pieces of music and I think the animation was done very well for this segment. I think my high school concert band did as good a job with Pomp and Circumstance. But we didn't have Donald Duck. But the Firebird Suite in the finale blew me away, both musically and visually. I bet I'll be throwing the DVD in to watch that tomorrow. I forgot that I haven't seen it since I bought my big screen and new home theater system.

DD8 and DS5 want to see it. DH's solution is to rent it on Netflix first to see if it will be worth it.
