We will be flying standby on AirTran in June from DFW. Anyone done this before? It is possible we could be treated differently. My stepsons' stepdad is a pilot for AirTran so the boys' fly free and my husband, daughter and I are also flying free, b/c of "buddy passes". We are at the top of the list, and are required to dress business casual. I've not flown standby before, so just wondering.

Lots of people with family in the airline business fly this way. But, how big is your group? are you prepared to split up to different flights? There are fewer flights these days and they run more full than ever. It may be hard to get a flight with many seats available at once for standby. It may also be a challenge to get many seats together so make sure they know when you check in you need an adult with each child.

Good luck!

Thank you! It's not a problem not to sit together. The boys are 15 and 17, but either my husband or I would need to be by our daughter she's 7.
