I have seen the info at Deb's "WDW at Large" but there isn't really much there in terms of practical info on what rides might be a tight squeeze. I'm taller and larger than most folks and wondering if there is a website discussing what rides might be a tight squeeze. I'm not worried about rides for the adults so much as rides I might want to go on with my son who is 5 yrs old (like Dumbo or something - I've never been on it!). I don't want to stand in line with him for a ride only to get up there and I can't fit in and then he couldn't ride and then....major upset.

Thanks!
Carol

Let me tell you..I was completely worried about being able to fit on the rides at the world, as I am not the smallest and fairest of them all...The notion never would have entered my mind had I not almost been kicked off a ride at the local theme park. I was COMPLETELY humiliated...anyway,i was afraid the same thing would happen at wdw, but i took a chance, and lo and behold...I did not have one problem. The only thing I did have a little trouble with was getting out of the car on space mountain, but my little sister had trouble with that, too.
Unfortunately, I've only been on dumbo once and I can't remember if I rode on my own or not...but just give it a try, you'll never know if you don't!!

my DH is about 275lbs and 6'3 and fitting on the rides in MK haven't been a problem, now IOA & UA are a different story. Depending on your build Dumbo shoudn't be a prob. either.

Just PLEASE remember one thing if you have a child under 13 or so and they are riding with a "large" size adult, you cannot sit next to them on a roller coaster with one lap bar. You really need to be careful of this b/c I almost lost my son this way at Busch Gardens. I was riding with him and another person who was large and the lap bar did not even come close to reaching him, it wasn't even touching me, when we went down the tidal wave he slipped right under the bar, thank God I had my arm under his arm, he could have been hurt badly.

Are rides like Dumbo "lap bar" rides that this might be an issue. I'm smaller than your DH (both in height and weight). I don't see us riding roller coaster with the 5 yr old yet - I think he is too scared of them - but a very good tip. I know there is a roller coaster somewhere for kids - seems like it is Goofy themed. He might like that coaster however. Is this one a lap bar?

Conversely if anyone has any dieting tips so I can lose 50 lbs in the next 6 weeks....:p

My husband is very tall...almost 7 feet, so I know about the challenges of fitting into rides. Space mountain, he did is once, but never again. He barely fit and the bar left huge bruises in his legs. Splash Moutain, he has to sit by himself, as he has to bend his legs to the side. He is also a broad guy...very large frame (to give you and estimate...52 size jacket! He weighs about 275.
most other rides he is fine though. Just ask a CM at the entrance about it...they are pretty helpful.

The lap bar is only a problem if the ride has some major dips and turns in it. The goofy rc in toontown should be fine, you could keep your arm around him.

Don't stress out about it... Go to DW to make memories with your family and have fun!!!

I'm 6'9" and about 250 lbs. The only rides that were hard to fit on were Space Mountain and the Tea Cups.

On Space Mountain sit in the back seat and put your feet on each side of the seat in front of you. Normally the way for a tall person to fit on a ride is to cross your feet/legs under you but finally on the 3rd time on SM I figure out the trick. It was MUCH more enjoyable every time after that.

The other ride that was hard to fit on and I think it would be a problem if you are heavy and not just tall is the Tea Cup ride. The problem is the large post/circle thingy in the middle of the cup that you turn to spin. I had a really hard time getting around it and getting the door shut. The door opens inside so once inside the cup you have to clear it enough to let it close behind you. I rode it with my 7 year old and 4 year old daughters. Once we were sitting it was fine just getting in and out was tough.

Your son might want to do Big Thunder Mountain, which is kind of a roller coaster. It was the favorite ride of two of my three children when they were 5. It is a lap bar ride, so just make sure to hold onto him, too.

I ride most every ride w/ ds (he's an average size 10 yr old) and dh in the same cart. DH is very average size-- I on the other hand am a plus size gal. We fit very "snug" in the BTMR ad HM carts but we still fit without feeling overwhelmed. I have never had a problem with the belts either. This had been a problem at other parks. I have never rode Space Mt., I did ride the teacups without a problem. I don't have a height issue though, so I am speaking only on the weight side.

I'm also plus sized and tall for a woman. Size 22-24, 5'9". Dumbo - no problem at all. It is a strap that has several holes in the end that goes over a hook. Tell you truth, I don't know what good it is. I'd say at least 3 of me would fit on dumbo.

My sister (also big) and I and our 3 kids fit on the Mad Hatter but between my stomach and the middle was very tight.

It's been many years since I went on Space Mountain, but I fit. Splash Mountain has no seat belts, and I didn't go on Goofy's barnstormer.

Don't worry about it. I think some people have a little trouble getting through turnstyles, but I don't, my legs are long. Have fun.

I'm in the 350 range and 5' 6" and have only had a couple of rides bother me. The Star Wars ride at MGM was a tight fit and it's a bumpy ride, so I don't want to repeat that one. The turn stiles outside of POC and CBJ at MK both are killers, just go through the stroller/handicap gates. I would never consider riding Astro Orbiter due to the small size of the seats. But, everything else from ToT to RnR are good to go! You can pretty much hold the info on www.wdwig.com to be the truth. Mickey

I have always had trouble with Space Mtn and the Tea cups.
But not because of my weight.....it's my height.
I am close to 6ft, but I have very long legs. So trying to get out of Space mtn can be quite comical!!
And I always bang up my knees on the tea cups.

It seems like those are the only 2 rides that give anyone any trouble! so ENJOY!! :D

Could you please elaborate on the IOA & UA rides as we are going there, too, this summer. Thanks a bunch!

You should be fine on all the rides at IOA and US also. The Hulk and Dueling Dragons have "test seats" out front, so you can see if you fit in. They also each have a row with seats for "larger" people. The CMs will tell you which ones they are.

My friend had problems at US on the E.T. ride. She is approx. 200llbs, and had problems fitting on the bicycle seats. She said that it felt very uncomfortable, and could not enjoy the ride.
Unfortunately the ride broke down while we were on it, and received passes to ride it again. The second time we rode on the Gondola, and she liked that much better. For me, the bicycle makes the ride.

I am a little big also. I really did not have any problems once I got in the seats. We have gone to many amusement parks and the way we handle it is this. My son gets on first, grabs the backpack and is there in case I need to hold onto him for balance (like splash mountain because you have to step down into the ride). Then when the ride is over he gets out, takes the backpack and is there again in case I need to hold onto him for balance. At all disney rides there is a cm at the entrance of the line. If you have any questions ask them. They would be able to tell you if you would have a problem.

Has anyone had a problem with air seatbelts? I did once. I blame it on a short belt. Since then, I've been ok, but has this happened to anyone else?
