Any inexpensive "pixie" ideas?

My 5-yr-old twin nephews are on their 1st trip at WDW now and I wanted to add a little magic to their day, but not spend too much money. I thought about FAXing a note from Mickey to their hotel or something. Any ideas?

Thanks.

I have a small Mickey punch that I got from Michaels. I punched out some Mickey's and when my nieces went to sleep. I put some on their bed and by the door. It helped to get them moving that morning.

If they are staying onsite, you could call their resort gift shop and purchase each of them a favorite Disney plush toy, Disney character tee-shirt, or something else you know they would like. They might even have some nice, big balloons with Disney characters on them. Maybe they can put the purchase in their room so it will be there when they return from the parks. :goodvibes

WHat people have posted works well! my sister sent us a big thing of fruit. We were on our anniversery and it was so nice. You could call the hotel and they could do something two if it is onsite-

My kids love Disney Pez...we are planning a family Disney Cruise next year with 25 people. Our Smart & Final had a box of Disney Pez for less than 50 cents a piece. Oriental Trading has Disney stickers and tattoos. I also look at Big Lots for close outs on Disney stuff.

These are all such good ideas -- I wish I had been thinking about this sooner, i.e. before they left! I did get them a lanyard and gave them a couple pins to take with them to trade.

Also, they're staying at Coronado Springs, so I called guest services a while ago and they're going to alert housekeeping to do some special services, like folding their towels into animal shapes or something, she said. They also said I could fax a message to their front desk 'from Mickey' and they would deliver it to their room!

Keep the good ideas coming -- I could still do something tomorrow!

For the future....the Disney paint chips at Home Depot are shaped like cards with Mickey Heads....make great name tags....book marks....cut them out and put magnets on the back....

Thanks again for the great ideas. We're going to DLR/DCA in December, so I'll have some time to think about some of these things for my DD's (19, 17 & 11).

A little advance planning always helps!

Just returned from DW. Before leaving, I purchased princess pajamas from Kohls. One morning we had breakfast with Cinderella. Before leaving the hotel, (without my dauthers seeing this) I put the pajamas in a princess gift bag on my daughters' bed with a note from Cinderella saying how nice it was to meet my daughters, etc. They were so surprised to find them when we returned to the hotel that night! I wish I would have brought more stuff from home. They are their favorite pajamas now!

Inexpensive Disney character watches make nice surprises. WM usually has a good selection for around $5-$6. This week, Big Lot's has character watches advertised for $1.99. I think it's fun, for kids as well as adults, to wear these in the parks. Just another way to enjoy the "magic"!

You can order Pal Mickey from Character Premier Outlet (phone # 954-846-7161) for $13.95 plus $8.95 shipping. This is last years version--his clothes are different. The lady at the store said the pixie dust in the air automatically updates him if you hold him out in front of you as you come into the park. This is a real bargain.

I've been picking up anything disney at the dollar stores, wally world, big lots, etc. (We have a Hudson's salvage here that has disney sunglasses for 88 cents each - whoohooo).

A week -10 days before we leave, I'm going to make little gift bags - one for each day we are there, slip little notes in the bags (pointing out an event we have scheduled for that day like wonderland party). I'll box the whole lot up and mail to myself at the resort. Each morning, DD will get a little pixie dust gift waiting for her by her bed.

Great idea! Will the hotels really hold a package for your arrival -- if so, how long?

Thanks!

This was a huge hit for my daughter.. Tinkerbell brought her surprises each day.. it really got her up and going.. the most expensive thing we gave was a tinkebell doll. the rest was super cheap!

Call your hotel and find out exactly what you need to do. The CM said to box it up, send it to myself in care of the hotel and mark on it our reservation number and FOR ARRIVAL ON and the date. She said no more than 10 days out though, anything left over 10 days will be disposed of. The package will be put in luggage storage for our arrival.

Staying onsite - have a wakeup call from Mickey.
Nighttime stories read to the kids on TV.
Stickers from the CM in the parks.
Look for the paintbrush on TomSawyers island and give to raft driver
Try to get to christmas shop first in morning - decorate tree
11 AM rope drop at Toonland
Meet the characters
