Any Indianapolis DISer's here....need some travel advice!

At the end of September I will be passing through Indianapolis on my way from Asheville NC to Madison WI. I think that Indianapolis is about halfway.

I need a recommendation for a clean, cheap hotel that would be fairly easy to get to from the interstate.

I assume you will be taking I65 through here? If you want to avoid downtown (which I personally would), you can jump on 465 from I65 and get off at 71st Street and there are quite a few hotels and restaurants right there off the interstate. It's a pretty nice area and I would think you could get some reasonable prices. Try this link to a google map to help you get started:

There are a lot of hotels along 465, I don't know how much they cost, but there are plenty to chose from.

I live about 60 miles from Indy, so rarely stay in hotel there. A couple of months ago, I did stay at the Hyatt Place near the airport. I was at a seminar and thought the room was very nice and reasonable. I think they give a AAA if you belong.

I wouldnt probably stay at the airport as that will be out of your way.

I would look for something near 465 in the Fishers - Castleton - Carmel area. From there you will have easy access to get back on 465 (its a big circle interstate that runs around the city) and go to I-65N.

Depending on your budget and if kids are involved, there is a holiday inn at 465 & Michigan Rd that has a big indoor waterpark that might be fun for you. It's also only about 10 mins from I-65N.
