Any ideas? What's a good "departure" gift for someone going to WDW?

Other than Disney Dollars, any good ideas on what to give someone as a present before they are on their way to WDW? The actual recipient is a grandma who's taking her daughter and her family. SO the gift can be for the grandma, something she may need OR something she can give to her grandkids (boy/girl twins aged 7).

I am so excited that they are going on a magical trip just after christmas thru new year's, any suggestions??

Thanks in advance for any responses!

My suggestion would be the book about Hidden Mickeys. I'm not sure the exact title, but it definitely has Hidden Mickeys as part of it and is yellow. It'd be great for the kids to kill time while standing in queues, and would be fun for g-ma too. You can pick it up at most bookstores for around $15.

A little basket with sunscreen, disposible camera, maybe a mister, peppermint lotion for tired feet.

At your local dollar store they have the cute poncho's in blue..I just bought 2 of these for my friend who is going with another friend and told her to bring it every day in the parks with her as it might rain for an hour or so every day and they will be prepared! and not have to spend $8 bucks for the ones they sell in DW!! Journals/notebooks/scrapbooks to record special moments and memories. Add some crayons/pens/markers -- kids can draw pictures and get character signatures, too. The Grandkids can either keep, or better yet, give to Grandma as thank you books for a great trip! Toss in a disposable camera and photos can be glued/taped into books!

By the way, we are going with 7 year old twins and will be doing this!

You're getting some great ideas here! I think most of mine have already been mentioned, but here goes anyway:

* A guidebook- either The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World or Birnbaum's Walt Disney World for Kids, by Kids

* An "emergency care kit" with first aid items (aspirin, bandaids, nail clippers), foot care products, sunscreen, inexpensive ponchos.

* A travel kit with books, drawing supplies, travel sized games, small surprises to keep the kids entertained on the plane and in the hotel room.

I'm a grandma, and will be in WDW tomorrow with my DD and two DGDs! My daughter-in-law gave us all matching Disney t-shirts to wear in the parks. I thought it was a great idea.

Glow sticks. (Find them at the dollar store or orientaltrading.com)
We wore them every night & got tons of people asking where we bought them. Plus it is easy to spot each other in a crowd! My dd4 was a bit scared on some of the dark rides so she even wore hers during the day & kept it close to her eyes on the dark rides! A disposable camera is a great idea too.
Maybe an autograph book (we loved meeting characters) & some starter pins & lanyard. Pin trading was dd's favorite thing & dh I & got really in to it too, so much that we'll have our own lanyards next time! Dh even bought a $30 book of all the pins that he left on the airplane on the way back darn him!

Wow, thank you all for such great suggestions!! I have already begun to put her gift together. I SO appreciate these boards and everyone's willingness to share ideas and suggestions. Thanks again to you all!!!

Another idea we had for a gift to our friends as they went on their Disney trip was to give them a Mickey Mouse bank. This way that we could always say that they were saving money for disney! Also fanny packs or backpacks are great ideas that can used over and over, even outside of Disney!

You could get the delux version of the Pass Porter. It has places for your receipts, passes, comes with a pen, and is a has a nice brown leather casing. The cool thing is each year you can download the updates and put them in the pass porter.

The hidden mickeys book is called: Hidden Mickeys - A field guide to Walt Disney World's Best Kept Secrets. You can get this from the pass porters site as well. The site is http://passporter.com/

They have extra stuff you can get to. It really adds to the trip, espically if they have never been. Other than that get Disney Dollars. Or you could book some priority seatings or a massage at the Grand Flordian.

I thought of a lanyard for each child and one pin to get them started! You can order them from the Disney Store website, and that wouldn't be too expensive.
