Hi guys

am looking at planning another trip to the states next year. My husband and i are going to do LA, San Fran and Las vegas.

Now there is usally deals you can get which include flight and 5 nights acccommodation either in la or san fran.

which would be the better deal to choose from to include the accommodation? which is more expensive is it san fran or la for accommodation?

also how long do you think we will need in the places? Las vegas is going to be a short trip maybe 3 nights max.

I want to do all the tourist things in la - disney, knotts, walk of fame, hollywood sign etc..

and same for san fran all the tourist thiings, alcatraze, golden gate bridge, cable car etc..

any ideas tips would be greatly appreciated as i need to work out a budget as the exchange rate is shocking for our nz dollar.

Just my personal opinion, but I liked staying in San Fran better. It's a really pretty city. Not that LA is not! It is. But I liked staying in San Fran better. It was a while ago that I was there, over 6 years ago, and I can't remember much as far as which cost more.

Have a good trip. :)

I think generally San Francisco is more expensive, and you want to stay in the downtown when you go there, where hotels are quite pricy. In San Francisco most of the good stuff is near the downtown area.

Whereas LA is more spread out and you can stay near one of the sites and there are more deals to be had.

You are going to have fun!!

Frisco is the more expensive, if you want to splurge I like Nob Hill for lodging. I think you could do SF in 3 days, LV in 3 days, and LA in 5 depending on how many days you want at Knotts and DL.

BTW, when you are ready to plan your trip head on over to the DL board !

I feel like I pay the same prices for the types of hotels I stay at in L.A. and on occassion S.F.

On a personal note I don't like S.F. I think it's dirty and it smells. I've lived nearby 19 years though, on the other hand I love L.A. and Vegas... who'd figure.

S.F. 3 days max, L.A. 4 days max and Vegas 2 days max. unless you are going to take a ride and do the Dam tour.
