We are taking my son to Disney to celebrate his 18th B/Day on Dec 8th 2005. We would like to make it a memorable one. Any ideas ? Any tips on what is offered by Disney itself ? He knows about the trip itself.

Thanks in advance from a newcomer to the boards

I am also a newcomer!! Let me just say I just spent a week in Disney celebrating my 30th bday, and that alone was soooo fun! You can get this silly hat in just about any of the shops there in the park that is a birthday cake(Pooh or Mickey themed). You can also go to guest services at any of the parks and tell them it is his birthday and they will give you a button that says it's my birthday. I didn't actually do any of these but I wish I did, I saw lots of people with them. The cast members take note and all wish happy birthdays and give some special treatment. Ibelieve when you can also let the restaurants know that there is a special bday and they will help you out! Also what might be fun for an 18 year old is Pleasure Island. He can go there even though he is not 21, and it is still a blast! Does he like christmas alot? We did the candlelight processional and that was beautiful and was my personal favorite part of my bday trip!! Hope any of this helps!

Hello and Welcome! Yes, get a button (Epcot has really cool bday ones) and make sure it can be seen, everyone, including CM make the bday special. And PI is cool too, be sure to check it out, and you can also order special cakes from WDW to have them sent to your dining table and/or room....and also stuffed Mickey's and such, just speak to the concierge or call WDW reservations and set it up!! Have fun!

If he loves sports then I would say a trip to the espn club is a must. I guess you have to know what your son likes. We have 3 ds and that is tops on their list also disney quest for video games etc. and at night pleasure island, the comedy club and adventurers club would be fun for him. Maybe a special character breakfast and for sure the birthday pin etc. Have a great time. Maybe an illuminations or wishes cruise if its not too cold. What about the belly dancer entertainment at marakesh? in morroco. The possibilities are endless.

We just did a birthday cruise this month and it was a blast! I believe that can be for both "Illuminations or WISHES". We scheduled for WISHES so we could seem them over MK castle. Our pontoon boat was comfy and nice. For a december night we lucked out and it was warm on the lake for 8pm. Even if its chilly they have blankets on board. The package itself includes a guided tour around the lake, balloons and a banner on the boat, a cooler full soda/water, and a delicious heavy cake! Our CM captain was a blast and fun. She felt honored that we shared our cake with her and included her on the fun. Watching the fireworks we were pretty silent, I think because it was too nice to disturb. The package was $220.00, and we gave our captian a $20 tip. It was one of the peaks of our vacation. :cake: :boat: :bday:

Thank you all for the wonderful ideas. It has been a long time since I visited Disney, in fact the last time was when my son was turning 3. I had no idea they had so much to offer in regards to birthday celebrations.
