Any ideas for Fundraising?

You're raising money so your adult husband can go to extra classes and on field trips? I don't mind contributing for the HS band to go somewhere, a church youth group, girl scouts, boy scouts, etc... I think you would have a hard time doing a "school" type fundraiser for a group of grown men to go on a field trip. My suggestion would be to get a part time job or something.

OP said: "My husband is in the Ohio Army National Guard & he is currently in the OCS Class (Officer Training Program.) Well, he & his class have been given the task to raise a good deal of money between now & next March for a variety of different training activities & field trips that the class needs to go on."

so, based on that, i am going to guess that it's not just a bunch of men going off to play "field trip" but rather it's REQUIRED by his OCS class/National Guard... and i, for one, am more than happy to support a Guardsman or any other military...

i love the idea of a dessert auction... our church's school has a spaghetti dinner fundraiser coming up next month and i may suggest that we do a dessert auction in conjunction with that... thanks to the poster that made that suggestion :)

Thanks for more ideas! And Gigi1313 - you're right! :) This is required by his National Guard OCS class - we aren't getting a penny of this money for ourselves. All money is going towards his Officer training in the Ohio National Guard. Thanks for everyone's great ideas & support! The guys are all going to get together after their next drill at the beginning of November to decide what tasks they'd like to do. Thanks again & keep the ideas coming! :)

Yet another...have their local schools hold a Penny Drive. If the PTA does not want to do it, then the teachers of individual classrooms may be willing to take on the project. 100% profit!
Good Luck!

It is against the PTA rules for the local units of the organizaion to raise or give money to any other cause, no matter how charitable. But, I bet the actual schools would allow jars to be put in the school or even organize a classroom based trive to help their local troops. It just can not be sponsored or funded by the PTA.

Another reason why you'll find a TON of PTO's so they do not have to follow PTA rules....

Good luck to your husbands officer class
