DD's 16th b'day is next Friday. I hate that it is so close to Christmas! We have no concrete plans, and I've been thinking of giving her a short weekend getaway...just the two of us for probably weekend after next (DH is headed to the Gator Bowl on Sunday so he has his little getaway all planned out..lol).

Anyone have any ideas? She just went to New York about three weeks ago for a weekend, or I would have loved to have taken her there. I thought of a spa trip to Arizona or somewhere, but I think most places you have to be 18.

I know the Hotel Hershey has teen spa treatments. It's a beautiful hotel with a geat indoor pool but the downside in that there's not much to do in the area at this time of year.

BTW, she's beautiful.

I wonder though, if she was with mom, if they'd let a 16 year old go to the spa....seems to me with parental approval?

Dunno but if you find a place that fits everything else, (time, budget etc) I'd call them directly and ask...can't hurt...

she is beautiful! Happy BDAY to her!

DD turned 17 yesterday. I took her and two of her friends to a Spa for a "teen massage" and a manicure. They loved it. Next time, it will be just DD and myself. :goodvibes

Thanks to all for the replies! I've been discussing the possibilities with a co-worker, and she's suggested Mall of America...uuugghhh....I HATE shopping, but DD loves it! I think I'm gonna head to the travel agency to see what kind of deals they are running.

I also love the idea of DC. We have friends who live about an hour away and only get to see them once a year, and I was thinking it might be nice to have friend and her DD meet us and stay in a nice hotel for the weekend to celebrate DD's birthday. She loved DC when we were there and only was able to spend the day the last time.

Hopefully I'll get this tied up today! LOL!

Thanks again!

There is a show on MTV called "Sweet Sixteen" which showcases the ways that many of Americas "sixteen to be" teens celebrate.
Check it out. Lots of really great ways to help your daughter ring in her 16th year! I am 1 1/2 years away from my next 16 year old DD!
Wa hoo!

Why not WDW? Stay in one of the deluxes that you haven't stayed in before and do some spa time at GF or SSR, Cirque du Solei, tea at GF......
