Okay DIS friends, I am taking my son (8) and daughter (4) to DW in August. We'll be there for four nights before my husband is coming to join us. My kids have no idea that he'll be coming. :woohoo: He's arriving at night & we'll most likely be at our resort when he gets there. I am just wondering if anyone has any creative ideas for how I can "reveal" him. My kids idealize their dad and are going to go nuts. So I was just thinking of how to make it fun. Any ideas?

Be nice if you could let him in when the kids are sleeping and they would wake up to find their daddy in the room the next morning! :goodvibes

How late at night? Will the kids still be awake? You could "order" pizza or dessert and have him deliver it to the room. Or maybe arrange a call from the front desk that there is a special package waiting for the kids, you all go to the lobby to find him waiting. The front desk doesn't really need to call, just ask for a wake up call that evening, or even sneakily call your room phone with your cell. Or just have your husband call when he arrives and pretend its Mickey. Or you could take a quick trip to the food court for a drink or something, and he could be waiting in the room when you get back.

Will he be getting there early enough to do Chef Mickey? Imagine your kids faces when Mickey brings their Dad to their table.

Bring wrapping paper hidden in your luggage, scotch tape and a big bow. (The wrap that comes folded in 12 x 12 sheets should pack well, even if you're flying. Otherwise, rolls.) Give a front desk person $20 to find you a big box and 'wrap' it for you (leaving the top open, and saving some wrap) and have them keep it for you. When your husband comes, have him duke the same person or another front desk person $20 to follow him to the room, wrap the top of the box after your husband has crawled in, and then call your room and say Mickey has left a package outside. TADA!

PS Lots of tipping involved; the "Pizza Delivery Guy" might be easier. He could just knock on your door clutching 2 stuffed Mickeys and your kids would probably go nuts as well.

:stir:Thank you so much for the great ideas!!! I am so excited! The wrapping paper idea sounds hilarious! If not, I'm thinking I'll say we've got a delivery at the front desk. LOVE surprises!

Gosh, I live for these kinds of shenanigans!

Two other ideas come to mind:

If it's not too late in the evening when he is expected, you could have the kids take a little scavenger hunt around the resort (having guest services maybe help you place the clues in the correct spots) and the kids could go from one to the other, with the final clue leading them back to your room, and when they open the door, WHAM! There's Daddy!

Or if your husband is game, maybe he could wear some kind of costume and come to the door (something that covers his face) and say he's there to read them a book or tuck them in or something. Then dramatically rip off the mask. ZOMG it's Dad!
