Any Idea what this pain could be? *Update Thursday Morning*

Yeah I wish they would read this thread though lol.

What I am going to do is call the local ER and see what they say.
This is how I learned I needed to come in and get examined which lead to my surgery.

It is at least a start.

Well I called the ER and they were of course no help.

The doctor said that it could be a bunch of things but that he couldn't really help over the phone. It actually sounded like he really didn't want to talk to me.

He said if the pain persists to go back to health services tomorrow but he couldn't help me.

Wow, I hope you'll be feeling better soon! That sounds very scary and uncomfortable--though hopefully it is nothing serious, I really think you should be seen again as soon as possible, if not at the ER than certainly at your school's clinic first thing in the morning! Be sure to make it clear that your symptoms have changed and worsened since you were seen before. Otherwise they may not pay attention to you as they should.

We've unfortunately had several serious illnesses/accidents in our family in the past few years, and I know from experience that the ER staff will NOT help you over the phone (I'm sure there are liability concerns involved with that), so if you need to be seen tonight just go on in. It won't be fun but it may be the best thing you can do. I hope you'll be able to talk to your family this evening and get their input.

I'm sure everything will be just fine very soon.

Janet

I am just going to wait until tomorrow morning and see how I feel. I will call Health Services tomorrow morning if the symptoms have gotten worse and tell them I am coming back in.

I really wish I could eat though because I am super hungry but i don't know if i will be able to keep it down.
I have that super hungry yet feeling sick feeling YUCK

I also have IBS and all the pain is mostly in the intestinal area and has nothing to do with your breathing like CAnn said.
If your chest is getting tight don't rule out asthma either. Since you are living in a different place you might start having problems with that even if you never have before.
My oldest daughter had pains similar to yours and as weird as it sounds it turned out to be a bladder infection. The pain ran up her back and she was very uncomfortable. It wasn't the normal symptoms, she also had no burning. Hope you get better.

i just have to jump in and say i agree with the others about it being gallbladder. you need an ultrasound to diagnose, you should really go to the e.r. if it is your gall stones, the attacks will not go away until it is removed.

i had horrible attacks before i got mine out, often the pain was like a 'band' around my chest making it seem hard to breathe. sometimes i would vomit, for months i thought i was just getting sick from something i ate as i would be fine the next day. until someone i knew told me about their gallbladder issues and bing! i knew that was my problem.

I only have that when I am pregnant! :earseek:

Seriously....
I have have my gallbladder out and I have IBS. Could you be experiencing anxiety? Does the pain improve if you try and relax?
I hope it is nothing serious and you feel better in the morning.

I have IBS & bad acid reflux. The IBS can sometimes cause lower abdominal pain. It took me 3 doctors to actually get it diagnosed though. Good luck and I hope you feel better.

A combination of both could cause pain in the upper chest. Sometimes the acid reflux is excruciating and there've been times when I thought I was having a heart attack because of the chest pain.

I don't know if acide reflux always comes with IBS but I do know both are common in young women.

I'd call the ER back and demand that they see you though, it could be something serious.

Feel better.

Please go see a doctor as soon as you can... I had my gallbladder out when I was 18 and I had a lot of symptoms similar to what you're describing. Don't wait for it to get worse, trust me, and don't let health services dismiss it as nothing if you feel like something is really wrong.

Mine also happened at school so I know how scary it is.

(Edited because I can't type)

Going to the ER really isn't an option at this point.
I am definitely not pregnant.
I have anxiety problems but relaxing does not help.
I just feel overall awful.

They said it wasn't gall stones so if i wake up tomorrow with the pain I will go back to health services.
I was running a temp this morning when I went so they also said to monitor that.
If something is really wrong I won't go to this ER but I will try to go back to the one where I had my surgery.

The hospital near campus is an awful awful hospital.

The family Doctor told my Mom she didn't have gall stones either. Her Chiropractor made her go back and demand an ultrasound. She had several gallstones and ended up needing surgery.

Please get yourself to a good hospital tomorrow.

I am going to call the hospital where I had my surgery and see what they say. I trust them a lot more.

Norah, speaking as an ER nurse, trust me, there is NO way they can tell if you have gall stones from a blood test. You must have an ultrasound. If the pain gets worse during the night, you really should go to the ER. They most likely would do an ultrasound then and there, along with an abdominal/pelvic cat scan. Please go somewhere if the pain persists. Also, phone triage doesn't do much except tell you whether it sounds like you have an emergency or not, you can't be diagnosed over the phone. So that isn't really going to help. I hope you can get some rest tonight, but again, please go to the ER if the discomfort worsens. You don't have to have surgery at that hospital if you are uncomfortable about it, but at least some things could be ruled out and you could get some pain meds.

This hospital is really bad lol They screwed up drawing my blood.

If i have to go the hospital I will go to Terre Haute

If I was in that much pain, I would get in the car and drive to an ER that I did trust... I am not sure why you feel that the ER close to you is so bad you can't go there, but that's your decision...

I wouldn't go another night with the pain. Your body and health are NOT something to mess around with - you only get one, remember... =)

Seriously. I'd get in the car and drive to your hospital that you like... More than likely, the pain will only get worse and you'll be up a creek soon...

Good luck to you - I hope you find relief soon. I know how hard uncontrollable pain is to handle, I myself have recently dealt with my own health issues... its a frustrating thing... esp when they can't diagnose it. Took 3 months for me. ARGH

Norah, I'd make sure you have some way to get there tonight if neccessary. Do you have transportation?

I talked to my ex who is an EMT and he says i need to get checked out at a hospital.
So if I wake up tomorrow and the pain is still there I will go to Terre Haute which is where the hospital i like is.
The nausea is going away but the pain and discomfort is still there.
I just feel like crap all together

I am feeling a little better and am going to eat alittle bit :)

Thanks for being here for me you guys It means a lot

When was the last time you pooped? My daughter had IBS and being only 5 at the time I didn't monitor her bowel movements. When you have it the poop backs up in your intestions(sp) and that can cause alot of pain and fevers. Also have you had this before? It sounds like gastoritis(sp) I have problems nightly and a few times a year I get this type of sickness but it never last more then2 days. How far are you from Indianapolis?? Go to Community north. Thats a great hospital. I really hoe you feelbetter soon. Being a person in pain alot I feel for you especially being away from home.
