any idea how much a new kitchen counter top might cost?

I just stopped at a home design gallery near here at lunch and looked at granite. Wow, are there a lot of choices. So many different styles, patterns and prices. I discussed costs and after a lengthy discussion with the saleswomen, I concluded that my estimate of around $4,500 for our 41 square feet +/- was about right. That of course depends on a lot of things. The amount of finished edges, the style of edges, the grade of grantie, the type of sink (undermount or rim), etc. She really wanted me to give her dimensions so she could put together an estimate. I wasn't ready for that yet. I am not sure if we are even staying in our house or not. I still want to build.
