Hi, Just wondering if there is any HG victims on the DIS, I had it badly with my dd(she is now nearly 5), was in hospital nearly the whole way through my pregnancy.

The reason I ask is that people have now started to pressurise me in to having another baby, however I am scared I will not live though the the next pregnancy!

Hopefully there is some HG survivors who understand how I feel!

Hi, thank you for the link, it was hard reading though.

I started being sick during my 6 week of pregnancy and it did not stop until after I had given birth. I could not move without being sick.

I had the side effects of a bulimic, my teeth are now so eroded from HG that I can not even drink coke now.
My oesophagus eroded also so I could not eat as it was painful to swallow.

I never spent more than 3 weeks at home with out being in hospital needing to be drip fed.

Hyperemesis sufferer here! I was hospitalized for most of my first trimester with both of my pregnancies. After coming home, I spent considerable time with a sub-clavian IV, which my DH changed and tended for me ! That is a sign of true love! I was scared after my first child, but wanted the second so badly I was willing to put up with it. However, during my stay in the hospital the second time around, I decided that was it. I just didn't think I could handle it one more time.

I did not have it as severe as you did. I was fortunate that during the second trimester it tapered off and I was able to eat normally till the end of my pregnancies. I did, however, lose at least 20 pounds during the first trimester of each pregnancy.

Don't let anyone pressure you into something you are not willing to do. It is scary...and it is NOT fun. Would you consider adoption as an option?

I was hospitalized with my first and had to take anti-emetic meds throughout the whole pregnancy.

But my second (3 years later) was much better - I only experienced normal morning sickness and did not even have to take any anti-emetics.

There is hope that this pregnancy should be better. But I would say that if this is a showstopper for you, maybe you are really being pressured into somehting you are not ready for. I was worried more about my labor the second time - no one tells you how bad it is the first :-(!

Good luck with whatever your decide!
