Any Husbands here do all the planning?

I have done everything, even down to checking for certain ADR's daily. My wife says I find sadistic joy in the chaos. She has had nothing to do with it, no input. When I ask her what she wants to do she replies, "I don't care". I got excited about getting our daughters BOG breakfast ressies today and she just blew it off. I don't mind doing all the planning but a little input could go a long was. This is our first official family vacation since getting married 8 years ago so I should be fun and my first trip back to Disney in 27 years.

I always do our planning as well. It might be half the fun. I always try to make sure we have something different planned a new restaurant or experience so there is always something new and different.

We travel in the summer (I'm a teacher), therefore the wife's job is the primary obstacle to planning a vacation. I get travel dates from her, must do lists from everyone (wife and 3 kids), and bust out the spreadsheets. We are getting a rental car this summer, so I've been on google maps and used street view to "drive" everywhere we will go. I love putting together the details. I've already booked what I think is a good deal for a car for June 2016 through Costco. Waiting for Orbitz/Cheap Tickets to come out with promo codes for hotel stays that can be used during the summer (current codes are only good for travel through 3/31). Also waiting for SW to open their calendar--probably December or January.

I price "fauxcations" all the time...just for fun. One of them actually turned into a real vacation to Disneyland because the prices were so good (obviously many years ago).

I'm definitely the planner of the two of us. I do get some suggestions from my DW on ADR's and FPs but other than that she leaves the rest up to me. I guess she does throw in her 2 cents on the resort we stay at (hence the two non POFQ stays in my signature :::sigh::. lol

I usually do all the planning for the trips we have taken. I lay out the general schedule, make dining reservations with input from everyone and plot the general ride strategy. Once down, I run it all by DW to make sure all is good. She's usually happy as long as I schedule in at least one day away from the parks for just pool time.

I grew up going fairly often and then had the benefit of an aunt who worked there for a few years. That said, my parents are planning their 60th anniversary there in 17 and want all of us there as well.

Yep. Dave Ramsey says that in many marriages one person's the "nerd" and the other person's the "free spirit." In ours, I'm the nerd (planner) and DW is the free spirit. She prefers me to do the planning, run through it with her and she gives the final OK.

I'm the "nerd" on our end too...
I run things by her, but generally plan it out

I do it all, and have for the past 10 years. Initial reservations\package, dining, FP etc. I get input from my wife and kids, but honestly, I love doing it, and am kind of a control freak with it.

Ive taken over all the planning since my father passed a couple years ago. He did all the planning when I was a kid. Then we did it together for many many years. We both loved doing it and it was fun doing it with him. That's probably one of the fondest memories of him I have and one of the things I miss the most. I can't plan a trip without thinking of him. Now I plan trips for my family and we try to take my mom at least once a year. We always toast my dad while we are there and as we do stuff we always say things like "That was one of dads favorites!".

My wife and family give their inputs and I bounce around the Disney site making all their wishes come true. I have a blast doing it and enjoy the smiles I get when I tell them I got exactly what they wanted when I can. I also love to surprise them with things they hadn't even thought about.

I've done all of the planning for all of the trips we've made. I do all the research so the wife has no interest in making the plans. She puts in her request for ADRs and I take it from there.

Now she could do the planning if I couldn't. I've rubbed off on her enough to know the process and keep her up on the dates to make reservations.

We discuss the dates and resort, and she handles calling WDW (she's FANTASTIC & finding room deals, etc) then i make notes of what she, DD and DBF (last trip) must do/see and take it from there to the spreadsheet! scheduling park days, adr and fp+ always enjoy it doing it with park music playing in the background.

I am the official travel agent for our family, and not just for Disney trips. We decide as a family where we want to go and for how long (often from a list that I've come up with) and then I come back to my wife with a proposed itinerary and costs. It's sort of a hobby of mine, I get kind of bored/antsy if I don't have a trip somewhere to plan.

I'm the wife, but my husband and I split the planning typically. While he doesn't do it all, he definitely does a lot of it. He made the spreadsheet for our upcoming trip. We decided on dining together, and I made the ADRs on line.

Another husband/dad planner here. Planning vacations is a lot of fun for me, especially a Disney Vacation. Have to be up at 11PM to schedule fast passes (which as I get older is no small feat)? No problem. 180 day ADRs? Bring it on. I love it.

It reminds me of my father-in-law. He loved to travel and plan trips but my mother-in-law did not like to go. She is a stay at home all the time type (what if you get sick, what if the car breaks down...) One year he finally talked her into a fall trip to the Blue Ridge Mountains. By all accounts it was a lovely trip. Four months later he died unexpectedly.

As we went through this things we found boxes and boxes of travel brochures (some 50+ years old). Many of those are now framed and hanging in my kitchen. We also found manila folders labeled by geographic region. Inside each were mapped out plans for vacations he never got to take.

So thanks husbands/dads who plan the trips! You are making precious memories.

Add me to the list. My wife hates planning trips. And I love scheduling stuff and making sure it all fits just right!!! We discuss general things like places she doesn't want to eat/places she does, resort to stay at, etc., but the details are left up to me to make sure it happens. I also really enjoy researching different tips, crowd calendars, reviews, touring plans, and general WDW updates on various WDW blogs!

Me. I do 100% of the planning for 99% of the trips we take. My wife prefers that I do it.
