Any hotels like HIFS near Universal?

I will be staying near Universal in late Jan after 6 nights at ASMo (I really wanted HIFS but Buzz won out) and would like to find a nice family friendly place near Universal. I am going with DH, DS (almost 3) and DD (10 months).

We looked into staying on site but cant afford $169 / night. Is there anything similar to HIFS near Universal? Either in atmosphere, rooms or hopefully both.

Well, there are not nearly as many resorts near US as there are WDW of course, but there are a few. The Radisson (or Ramada, sorry I pass by there nearly every day and CANNOT remember the name) is directly across the street (Kirkman Rd) from the parking garage for US. There are other hotels in that immediate vicinity. In general, the hotels in this area are more budget style, than luxury, but that can be ok if you just want a clean room in which to sleep and no frills. They are not necessarily cheaper, mind!

It's really not that far from HIFS to US unless of course, you won't have your own transport.
