Any hope?

We just became (resale) DVC members with a contract at Poly. We are really wanting to go to Aulani this October. We even have flights booked already (with Southwest points so can cancel easily if we don't get the reservation). We need a 1 bedroom as a family of 5. Is it a pipe dream this will happen? Is this a super desired reservation that I am naive of since I just became a member? I called Member Services for the first time yesterday to clarify my points (some are banked from 2020 and 2021 is partially used) and she honestly just sounded like she was tired of talking on the phone and wasn't that much of a help. I also had read that if it is your first trip they will sometimes try to make something happen. She definitely didn't do that. I asked if all of Aulani DVC rooms are open at 100% capacity. She said she didn't know and didn't even bother trying to find out. I only asked because I read a ton of regular rooms opened up for this summer at Aulani because the resort opened up more capacity. Could this happen with DVC rooms as well?

When Aulani DVC opened, all villas opened. DVC could not legally keep rooms out of inventory unless they were pulled for planned renovations.

DVC will sometimes pull cash inventory or developer inventory to make a first visit for direct purchasers. They don't do anything for resale buyers.

I don't know what Aulani inventory typically looks like in October but there are a lot of DVC owners with points to burn. Inventory at WDW is pretty picked over for that month. Aulani could be getting the spill over of members who can't book elsewhere and must use or lose their points.

I'm sorry that you got a less than helpful CM. It happens sometimes. I'm not above cutting the conversation short and then redialing in the hopes of getting someone who can answer my questions and help if they can. The best that I can offer is to get your wait list in and stalk the website for openings.
