Any hope of them postponing Splash refurb?

We were just down this past weekend. Splash seemed to be broken down more than it was working. It's time for a refurb

Anyone know historically for the months long refurbs whether they typically reopen exactly on time or if they've opened early?
Usually on time. You might see a day or two early but that's rare. Sometimes they are even extended.

I'm trying not to think about this refurb because every time I do I just start crying.
Yeah..for my own mind in keeping a positive thoughtprocess for this upcoming trip I had resigned myself after getting it out of my system on a couple of threads months ago. I'm still sad and perhaps it was like a one two punch for the other rides that will be closed as well and I had a bit of mourning I needed to do for that too with a few threads.

It's a double-edged sword because things have gone bye-bye in the 6 years since I've been but boy oh boy are there a lot of new things to ride, experience, eat, etc and that's what I want to be focused on-enjoying the classics to me and exploring the new to me.

Realistically speaking it's common to have at least one ride down but for this upcoming trip it's a whammy at 5 rides (4 at WDW 1 at USO) and out of those 5 three are permanent :sad1:. But again I've just got to mourn and move on because I'm determined to not start my vacation with negativity.

The Dinosaur refurb was extended last year, causing us to miss it. Hoping they open Splash a few days early this time, so we can ride it on our next trip. But we understand that refurbs happen. We missed BTM in DLR in 2013, and at WDW last year, both times due to refurbs.

I do question closing the GMR so quickly when so much of DHS is already closed off. I think they should have waited until Toy Story Land was opened before closing the GMR.

They want Mickey done in 2019 so they had to close it now in order to get it done. There will be about 9-10 months between GMR closure and TSL opening. Disney could have had TSL open by Christmas if they really wanted but they didn't.

The BTMR refurb last year got bumped back, but this one sounds pretty solid.

That's whats keeping me hopeful. But I know as it gets closer the change of that is slim. I feel like with last years BTMR they made that call a good 6 weeks before. Would be neat to know what caused that delay... parts not available, labor issues, etc?

Rumor is that Frozen was taking a little too long to finish and early summer crowds were expected to be higher...which of course wasn't what happened. ;)

In the last four years, I've been at the Magic Kingdom four times. Two of those times Splash Mountain was closed. I guess it's a toss up which ride will be closed. Another of those years Pirates was down.
