Okay, bear with me. I posted the other day about the Chevy Cruze. Now we're looking at the new Honda Civic. How do you find the gas mileage on it? Is it roomy? Any pros/cons?

I have a 2008 Civic and it has been one of the best cars I've owned. But, my back seat legroom is small.

We bought our son a 2010 civic 2 door when he graduated high school 3 years ago.
He loves it! No issues to date. Just oil changes and tire rotations.
I will say the 2 door is a pain if you are getting in the back.
This is the first Honda we have ever purchased and we are happy with it.

We have an '04 and it's still one of the best cars we've owned.
(bought it in '06 or thereabouts)

We own a 2009 4 door civic and we love it! We get between 38-40mp driving 80% on the highway.

The only problem we have is the air pressure monitor light stays on and we don't have an issue with low pressure.

We are Looking at buying a new model and I like how the redesigned the car.

Granted ours is an older model but we own a 2003 Honda Civic and have owned it since it was brand new. It has been the best car ever. We literally have had to do nothing to it except routine maintenance.

Have a 2006 civic and it is great. Only problems I've had:

1) some issue with the stereo... after a heavy rain the speaker sounds kinda blown but then it is fine later. They couldn't reproduce/figure it out. Has to be very heavy (but I live in FL so it happens)

2) Some rubber came off around the front windshield. When i drove it was flapping and making farting noises. They said it wasn't covered under warranty so I had to pay to fix it :(

3) The infamous rear view mirror glue issue. I fixed this myself with a drill and a bolt.

But no driving issues - which is great!! :)

How is the roominess of the drivers seat? I'm a bigger gal and wondering about this.

We have had 3 civics and currently have a 2009. That isnt to say they are bad, we just lease a lot. We have also had nearly every other model and have loved all of them.

I find that the civic is pretty zippy for that class of car. It has a surprisingly large trunk. The back seat is more comfortable than the Fit we have. Our gas mileage is about the same as the Fit at over 30 mpg although the Fit is better on the highway. I am a larger woman too...tall and wide! :lmao: and I have no issues with leg room or head space.

I havent seen the new model though so I cant say anything about interior space etc. but model changes on most models have tended to get bigger.

When we turned in our last leased Civic it was resold before we were even off the lot.

Thanks. I'm short and wide LOL so I guess I'm looking more for the seat/seat belt roominess. I'm hoping to go check them out within the next few days.

You'll test drive it, right? I would just wait and determine that then instead of asking for other people's perspectives - because everyone is shaped differently.

I just got a 2013 Civic and I am in love!! I love how easy it is to get in and out if places. Blue tooth is standard. You can also upload a pic to have on your screen. Makes my car so personal! I am also short and wide. No issues! We also own a pilot and love that too!

I own a 2010 Honda Civic GX, which is the compressed natural gas model. It's exactly like the gas model, except for the fuel system.

I love it. I have a 30-minute commute to and from work, and get an average of 38 MPG. Last week I got 42 MPG.

I've not had any issues with it. I'd recommend one. My friend Jessa liked it so much she bought one a month or so ago.

I just purchased a Nissan Sentra SL. What a pleasant little car. A lot of leg room, big trunk and a combined 34 Mpg. Room for 5, The SL has the better radio, No Key ignition, and I got the leather heated seats option. A price point of under $20 K. It lacks power, but hey I am older and don't need to be the fastest to the store. fill-ups every other week are costing me $35.00 as compared to my 2002 Touris at $60.00. I recommend taking a look at the completely redisgned 2013 Sentra.

I've owned 2 Civics and my husband has one. Both of mine lasted a long time, my nephew is still driving my '98 and my husband his '01. Can't go wrong with a Civic if you take good care of it.

Have an 07 Civic and it's great! No maintenance problems. It's small and definitely not the most comfortable car for driving long distances. But great for commuting.

07 civic coupe, i guess im the only one having issues...
- Recall on control arms(2013)
- Recall on visors (2010)
- New recall on paint wear(2013)

So far, i had 1 expensive fix(engine mount) (i guess u can say its my fault?)

other than that, its a fun car to drive and unlike other cars, u feel like ur more relaxed driving... I get around 27-30mpg but i have a heavy foot and i speed pretty badly, haha.

OP here. We're heading out to go check out the Civic in a little bit. I'll let you know how we make out.

I have a 2002 Honda Civic two door. We bought it brand new and have had no major problems - and it now has 160,000 miles on it! I don't know how it compares with the newer models but the seats are extremely comfortable (much more so than our 2012 Mazda 5 mini van).

We also had a 2006 Civic 4-door which DH loved and regrets trading it in.

Good luck with your search.

We have had numerous Hondas over the years. I just sold an old 1999 Honda civic that we have had since new and we never had any trouble with it. I have had several honda accords, and my husband is driving an accord right now and he loves it. My oldest daughter drives a honda civic and she loves it too.

Chevys on the other hand are crap! Well, I should say that mine is. I have had nothing but trouble since I bought my SUV but now that it's paid for it makes it harder to trade because I hate car payments. My problems have been stupid cosmetic things that are cheaply made. We have also had several expensive mechanical issues too. The latest thing is that my head lights will just shut off while driving or they will blink! After this experience, and reading online about others who have had the same things happen to them, and having friends with the same issues, I will NEVER own another Chevrolet.

The best advice I could give you would be to stick to the Honda. :thumbsup2
