any gun experts?

Well I'm a little old fashioned so I stick to the old standards like Juicy Fruit or Doublemint.

Oh. Wait. You said GUN. Sorry.

:p LOL

But seriously...have fun shopping! DH was never a hunter so we don't have guns but I grew up going out for target practice with my dad. Great sport and I wish I could have talked hubby into it over the years.

I grew up around guns because of my dad too. DH has never fired a gun but he doesn't mind me having them. In fact, he gave me the gun class as a gift. I had let my gun permit expire because when the kids were small, he made me keep my gun unloaded.

Pretty much good advice...

Nothing wrong with 9mm or .38, as you noted before, a neighbor took out someone with a .22--shot placement far more important than caliber (though larger caliber + Shot Placement = Good to go:thumbsup2)

If you're going to carry it everywhere, make sure you like the ergonomics of "how it carries"...like weight, ease of concealment etc. etc.

Revolvers usually get recommended for new shooters because if you pull the trigger and it doesn't go "BANG" (like on a bad round) you simply pull the trigger again. With semi-autos, any number of things can go wront (stovepipes, failure to feeds etc. etc.) which require the shooter to do something with it to get it running again.....much easier to simply pull the trigger again:thumbsup2

Just make sure it works for you.....:cool2:

And to the Lady with the 1911----you are my hero....:worship::worship::worship:

LOL! If you could shoot my gun, you would be just as enamored with it as I am. It was worked over by Wilson Combat. They installed a Barstow competition barrel, night sights and tweaked the trigger, among other things. I knew the moment I pulled the trigger, I had to have this gun. 2.5 pound trigger so smooth it will make your mouth water.

Lord, now I am gonna be known as the crazy gun lady. I suppose that is better than the crazy cat lady. LOL

I think there's nothing wrong with being the crazy gun lady. At least people know not to mess with you

Sounds like it is a sweet gun. DH has been pestering me to get my carry permit, but I refuse to take the class right now. I told him, that I did not want to take the class until I had cash in hand to buy my pistol. I use to have a Ruger .22 long rifle pistol. That was one great gun.

Rather be known as the crazy gun lady then crazy cat lady. ;)

Sorry, but I don't really think this is an appropriate thread for a family Disney board.

Remember the best caliber/gun is the one you will carry. I carry everything from a .32 to .45 depending on what I am wearing that day. It's better to have a .32 in your pocket than a .45 still at home.

I've decided on the S & W Bodyguard and my mom just got the LCP Ruger. I liked the Ruger but found the S & W fit my hand better than the Ruger did. There's very little recoil on either one of them. The S & W has an integrated laser. My mom had a handgrip laser put on the Ruger. The S & W was $425 and the Ruger with the laser was $479 ($329 w/out) so the price is pretty comparable. Both guns are very easy to carry concealed.

What caliber is the S&W Bodyguard? I'm not familiar with it

:confused3 We aren't selling crack. Just discussing something that is protected under the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

The title makes it pretty clear what this thread is going to be about, no one made you click on it.

just curious, but why do you feel it isn't appropriate?

Because I don't think guns and Disney go together. I'm not getting into any kind of debate about this at all though. I'm Canadian and I guess I see things differently.

What could more appropriate? Protecting family and loved ones is a priority.

My wife has a Walther PPK (.380) She can handle it with no worries. About the Only handgun she feels comfortable firing for some reason.

I carry a Glock 23 .40cal.

In the house we have a winchester 870 pump.
