I am VERY surprised at the storyline they have written about Tammy and JB. I don't know how they'll ever redeem JB although I know a lot of villains turn out to be good guys later on and visa versa but he PURPOSELY seduced his own cousin with her not knowing who he is? Even Roger Thorpe never pulled that one! And I HATE that they are letting Grant Aleksader (Phillip) go. I have been watching him since he started the show. And it's supposed to be a murder mystery. Well, we all know he's made a lot of people despise him right now but who is actually a killer? Harley, Buzz, Billy, Bill, Olivia? Nah. Maybe Lizzie will freak out and do it on accident. Or could Joey Lupo come back to get him since he blackmailed him to leave town. Or will Tammy lose her mind when she finds out JB is her cousin, then somehow finds out is was Phillip who sent Joey away and she blames Phillip because she would still be with Joey and the JB thing wouldn't have happened if Joey were still in Springfield so she goes nutso and kills him? I know, all far fetched but it's not going to be one of the MAIN suspects IMO.

I have been watching GL for 20 years. It's getting pretty good right now. I can't stand JB and I am very upset Phillip is leaving. I really hope they don't kill him. I guess it doesn't matter - they all come back from the dead.

I love Harley & Gus. Hope they get back together. I'll talk GL anytime.

at this point I am almost embarrassed to say I watch it! Especially after reading your post! LOL! The story is so crazy and stupid right now. It doesn't go with the traditional story lines lately. I must say I do find Rogers son rather interesting. But I have a hard time with Michelle and her new persona! This JB thing is crazy. Of course you Tammy will be pregnant! Plus the guy who plays Sandy has to be the worst actor out there. He was laughable the past few days!
As for Phillip leaving....I think it is a shame they have him behaving like this. How in the world can he or Gus not see through Harly's Ruth person?
Plus Olivia and Bill? married? What is the age difference there?
I am very disappointed how the show is headed. I swear I need to stop watching it but I have been watching it for way too many years. Started with my mom when I was just knee high as they say!

When you watch the show it seems good but when you read what is happening it does sound pretty stupid. It's my hour of escape - guess because it's no where near reality. I don't like Michelle either. My sister just told me Ross picks Dinah over Blake next week.

Thats no surprise, Ross choosing Dinah. I am disappointed that Phillip is leaving more because I have always wanted to see Vincent Irazzy come back and reprise his role as Nick while Beth is on the show. I always thought that would be SUPER!

Of course Phillip won't really be dead, he will be back in a few years, or his twin brother.....LOL! Does anyone as big as Phillip EVER die on a SOAP????

As for Michelle, its okay, I think Tony is HOT so I'm liking that story.

I need the smiley but J.B. is FINE!!!! Regardless of the person he is playing, he is just YUMMMY!!!!!

I've been watching Guiding Light and As the World Turns since I was literally born. My baby sitters watched, My grandparents watched and I've always watched. I can even remember taping it in high school and college! I miss Mindy and Roxey!

I loved the 80's on that show - I forgot about Roxey. How come she has never come back? She is Reva's sister! I think Nick coming back would be awesome too.

Love Guilding Light! I grew up watching it! My first memories of Guilding Light was the story line with Holly and Roger(Blake being a little girl AKA Chrissy). So I love the new story with Roger's son Sebastian. I didn't know Grant(Phillip) was leaving the show. There can be no other actor that could play Phillip either. I love the character Edmund but is kind of getting bored with Dina trying to pull him away from Casey.
Guliding Light is the only TV show I watch during the day while being at home with my 4 year old DS.

I'm happy you all responded. I was beginning to think I was the only DIS GL fan. Like many of you I started watching when I was very little along with ATWT. I just catch enough of that now to know kind of what's going on but I tape GL every day. Shhh...don't tell anyone but dh watches it with me at night and likes it too. Yea, when you analyze some of the stuff it seems silly but I think that's what all soaps have to do to keep storylines running with the same characters, Just think if we wrote about B&B. They all have been married to one another at one time lol. Right now I hate seeing Phillip the way he is, the JB thing is over the top but it makes me curious enough to tune in every day! They need a new love interest for Beth. I kind of like the friendship between Beth and Gus but we all know he and Harley are going to get back together. What about Danny? It is about time he gave up on Michelle. He always breaks his back for her and memory or no memory enough is enough. But....Blake is unhappy with Ross and who was she chatting with but Danny? Could be interesting. Oh, and does anyone know why Ed Bauer left the show so suddenly? I hope he (the actor) is ok healthwise and everything because it was right before the explosion, Michelles memory loss, a really weird time for him to be away.

must say today surprised me just a tab bit! Don't want to give anything away but at least the Roger's son story line will be interesting.....but this JOnathan story needs to go.
I still say the best to happen to the show is have Cassey wake up in the hospital with Richard by her side and realize she was in the car accident with him....tadahhhhh start over with some of these really good characters!

Okay, here's my 2 cents. I've been watching Guiding Light since my sophmore or junior year in high school -- so, early 80s. I can't stand what Phillip has turned into and I'm sort of happy to see him leave. My guess is that he'll be going to prison...not getting killed off.

Harley and Gus need to get back together. Then again, maybe I just really like Ricky Paull Goldin.

I agree with the poster that said JB is yummy (even though they're playing him as a sleaze).

I kind of like Olivia and Bill together.

I wish they'd bring back Matt and Vanessa.

Josh and Reva are my favorites.

I think Sandy is adorable, but agree that he leaves a lot to be desired as an actor. Why did he not hook up with Marah if he wasn't really her brother?

Vincent Irizarry was great as Lujack...didn't like him so much as Nick.

I like the "new" Michelle much better than the good little wife she used to be. She makes a good rebel and a good person for Tony.

I miss Tony & Marah.

I miss cutie-pie Shane. I wish they'd bring back the girl that played Marina two actresses ago.

I don't like Sebastian. He gives me the creeps.

I don't remember the old Holly & Ed storyline much, as I think that must have been when I went back to work after being a SAHM. I'd imagine it has something to do with that...their romance.

I really can't stand Sebastian -- he's just creepy.

I read in Soap Opera Digest that Phillip gets killed this week and that there is a great scene between Rick and Phillip as he is dying. I love the "old" Phillip and am very sad to see him go. I have been glued to GL this week. Don't want to miss a thing.

I think that is terrible if they kill him off! Granted I cant' stand the way they have turned his character but just ship him off to the funny farm and bring him back in the future.
Does anyone else thing Grant Alexander doesn't look too good? I know his character is suppose to look a little crazy but I think he doesn't look totally healthy. Could be just me....
Also I think this entire Holly thing is loopy! For awhile I was was enjoying it. And like the character of Sebastion but now....not sure.

When I read that GL was firing Grant Aleksander (Phillip) I thought I was going to lose it. He has been a mainstay on GL for soooo long. I have been watching the show since I was literally a small child and I remember when he first came on the show. We are about the same age. The year that Phillip, Mindy, Rick, and Beth went to prom and graduated high school was the same year I did too. When they started making his character mean and crazy I thought it would be temporary. I can't believe he is going to be off the show. I already was tearing up during a scene with he and Rick last week, I imagine I'll be bawling in his dying scene this week. (I know...it's just a show!) I never miss taping an episode and shhhh don't tell anyone but dh watches it every night with me hee hee. I'm not too crazy about the Sebastian/Holly story and I am probably the only GL fan who does not like Michelle. I didn't like her when she was her old sicky sweet self and now that she is wild and cocky she still irritates me. But as wild as it is the JB/Tammy/Reva/Sandy storyline is good. That JB is wicked but a good actor isn't he???!!!And I love Danny even though I see him headed towards Blake which seems like an odd combo but we'll see. And I love Gus! Of course he and Harley will end up back together but am I the only one who sees the chemistry between he and Beth? Beth needs a new man! And that darn Dinah. She is wicked. I love Edmund but Cassie's infatuation with Jeffrey is going to cause her to lose Edmund if she's not careful.

Spinning, I read the way he found out that they were letting him go. He had worked all week and when they were about to go "dark" (their term for when they aren't taping) before the Labor Day weekend they called him in at the end of the day and told him they were letting him go. From what I read he and all his coworkers were in complete SHOCK. Just a guess but maybe the stress is showing on him.
