I read that 1900 Disney employees were laid off...anyone hear of any guides who were a part of this? I called mine last Thursday and left a message. Maybe he is on vacation, I don't know. He normally calls me right back....:confused3

Just guessing here but if they are on commission only, they don't tend to get laid off unless other guides pressure management into thinning the herd. Commissioned people generally leave on their own as commissions dry-up.

I agree, commissioned employees cost the employer alot less. Guides are esentially Realtors, if they do not preform, they do not get paid much. I do not see many of them leaving of their own accord due to the fact that there is little work in the Real estate world right now.

I received an e-mail the other day stating that they were looking for people with Illinois real estate licenses.

Are guides paid only commission? I thought part of the low pressure DVC sale was guides with no commission (although I'd guess there are a substantial amount of performance bonuses, which work in a similiar way to commission)

I don't know if ours was laid off or quit, but we received a call from our new guide in Jan/Feb saying that our old guide is no longer with the company. Our new guide is based at Doorway to Dreams in Woodfield Mall.

My understanding is that Disney DVC Sales representatives are non-commission base, but rather receive "points" for each sale and are held to a certain level of production.

Not sure, but i do know that I received an email (I live in PA) basically recruiting people with a NY real estate license to sell DVC. I seem to remember the word "commission" definitely being used. Made me wish I was a real estate agent - and in NY!

The "Guide" position has been commissioned for a number of years, that I am aware of. There may also be incentives as is typical in sales, as well.

Maybe this is why there was a" no pressure " approach with DVC sales guides on the tour. That may change now if "commission" only applies to ALL sales guides.
