My hubby is a cop and needs some new work boots so that's what I'm giving him for Christmas. As some of you probably know work boots can be hundreds of dollars so I'm looking for a good deal.

Have you seen any deals lately? Or know an affordable site? I've been looking through the Black Friday ads but so far haven't seen much.

Thanks!!

We are in construction. I don't find work boots for Black Friday - BF is more dress clothes, party clothes etc.

I usually find our local chain, Meijer, runs a 30% off in Jan/Feb, and again in summer (August back-to-school), for work boots (running a special right now on Carhartts, Dickies and other construction clothing). I know that doesn't help you in TX, but you might watch your local stores over this next year to figure out their sales cycles. Sears ran a special in August, too. I don't know if they run a winter sale.

Does he have a particular brand/model that is comfortable for him? If he has, then try Designer Shoe Warehouse, Zappos, Amazon, 6PM. If not, scout out some stores in your area and figure out where he can try on a bunch of different brands/styles in one afternoon and have him pick one (or two). To my DH the words "Let's go shopping" make him :crazy2:, so I did a little leg work prior to dragging him out, and took him to dinner after. He's basically a big kid, and highly food motivated, so I use the old "C'mon, Honey. There's candy at the end of this!" routine.

Good luck! :)

Thanks! He's worn Rocky for years but they discontinued his fav so he's open to new brands. Took him to Redwing and he found a pair that he liked but they were over $300. If I have to I will buy them but I'd really like cheaper. They have to be comfortable, black, non steel toed, with no design.

Oh yay! I just went to rockyboots.com and they are going to have a Black Friday and Cyber Monday sale! I really hope they will have a pair he will like :goodvibes

Thanks to the DIS I Bought DH a pair of Bates from Sears and he LOVES them he is really hard on his boots and every 6 mos needed a new pair but these have lasted him the longest check them out :thumbsup2 hoping for a bf sale to get him another pair :goodvibes

RedWing puts coupons out in the ValPak and other shopper magazines that come in the mail. They're the only brand of boots DH uses. They are well-made, last a long time with proper care, and can be resoled. Of course your DH should have at least two pairs to rotate

We have found after many years that work boots are something we don't scrimp on, but we've never paid that much for them.

DH bought a pair of Dr. Martins three years ago and even tho they are steel toe he'll wear them when not at work.

He also earlier this fall bought a pair of composite toe Laredo work boots. Check out a local western wear store, that's where he bought his latest pair.

I'd say we usually spend between $150 and $200 per pair. But they last a long time. The cheapo ones we used to buy didnt' last long and he had some foot issues when wearing the cheaper shoes as well.
