Usually use codes on mousesavers but cant seem to get a great deal at the moment?

Anyone found a good SUV rental deal for end Sept / beginning Oct?

What size?
Had a quick look, checked 14 days from 23rd Sept
Netflights(Thrifty) have 5 seater Jeep Grand Cherokee £379.50 less 5% Quidco = £360.52
Expedia(Hertz) for 7 seater Ford Explorer or similar £403.04 less 6.9% Quidco = £375.23

USrentacar.co.uk have intermediate SUV Equinox or similar £352

Not searched a lot but best prices I could see for the 3 size SUV's.

Small SUV is fine.

Whats the best way to book and where? To include hire and insurance or do separately?

In the past, I've booked directly using codes off mousesaver.com and paid for annual car insurance from insure4carhire.com.

Glad you asked :) i was just about to start looking for the samething but we need a 7 seater for 2 weeks (20/9 - 4/10).

Now i can cheekily keep an eye on this thread :)

Personally I prefer to take the rental companies insurance (all of these are all inclusive)
When I arrive I don't want any hassle with them telling me my insurance is not adequate. I also want want no hassle returning the car, if its their insuranse I hand it back and forget it whatever condition its in. If I had a seperate policy in UK It would involve claiming, something I don't want after a holiday.
If you can cope with the possble hassle then go for a seperate insurance and just rent a basic car if you can find a deal, not something I have ever looked for so can't help there, I just wouldn't want to do it that way myself.

Of the 3 deals I posted(if prices have not changed) it depends if you want to do the cashback, if you do then I would get the 7 seater Explorer or similar with Hertz, for the extra £23 over the cheapest you get a lot more car.
If you don't want to do cashback or want a more economical car then the USrentacar deal is probably the one to go for.

I hear what you're saying about rental companies insurance but its so much more expensive this way.

To be honest, rental agents can be a PITA anyway with the way they try to sell upgrades. Its just one more thing to be firm on if you've got your own insurance. Usually, its no problem, but I did have to complain about a guy once when he became abusive calling me a 'stupid Brit who thought he knew how things worked in the USA' .Think he was upset at missing out on his commision. Of course, the introduction of self service rental booths helps these days.

A few years ago I did damage the rental car. Reversed into a mailbox outside the villa!

Took the car back and they werent bothered at all. Told the insurance company when I got home. I emailed the car rental co and they waited ages before contacting me and then just asked for my insurance contacts and that was that. No claim form or anything like that.
