Planning a Disney trip is so much fun but I keep missing the mark on travel days. I guess there are too many variables, so making plans for PS and not getting to the parks early enough, throws me for a loop. Do you have any good first night traditions? In 2003 we stayed at the AKL and spent time enjoying the lodge, storytelling at Arusha Rock and dinner at the Boma - this was great but not really perfect, I guess I just want to get into the Disney spirit faster. . . . and not be too tired to get going bright and early the next AM! Thanks! :confused3

We usually go to Downtown Disney on our travel days. Lots to do there, tons of shopping, water fountains for the kids to play in, as well as the Lego playground, etc. Several places to have a great dinner, and Ghiridelli's for dessert!

Character Dinner at Chef Mickey's. Great way to get into the magic.

Walking around the Boardwalk when I first arrive helps me transition. There are a lot of dining opportunities and entertainment, and you don't have to stay out too late.

We normally do some resort hopping or head down to DTD our first day... but somone on here suggested we go to Chef Mickey's for our first dinner, and I immediately changed our PS to that night! (We were originally going for breakfast the next day). I think it's a great idea, and we're so excited! We'll be traveling with 2 other couples, and it just so happens that all the ladies have b-days in February (1st, mine is the 27th and 28th) so that's when we'll be celebrating!

Another vote for Chef Mickey's though this trip we are breaking with tradition and doing the Campfire and movie with Chip n Dale at FW

Cinderella's Gala Feast (I think it's called that) at the Grand Floridian. This way my princesses get to see their Princesses right away, then the MK fireworks. We always like to do MK first!

Our first day or our "travel Day" we dont normally go into the parks since well we normally get a 6am flight from Toronto, get into Orlando at 10 but here is the kicker. We have to be at the airport at 3, and who can sleep before they leave we have tried the parks but we are like zombies..

So what we do is head to boardwalk for a bit, We also have played some Mini golf at Fantasia Gardens and of course head to Downtown Disney and make sure to just relax and get ready to hit the parks

About to get to the airport at 3 am in 11 days!!

On our first night at WDW we always go to Downtown Disney to eat and do some serious shopping. I like to do my shopping then, so then I don't feel stressed out to do my souvenior shopping in the parks. We have so much fun on this night. :)

I'm going to give another vote for dinner at Chef Mickey's. It's a great way to start a Disney trip!!!

We will spend our arrival afternoon at Downtown Disney and then have dinner at Boma.

Can't wait - we leave a week from Saturday!!

Plane lands around 1:30, by the time the airport stuff is dispensed with, the Wal-Mart trip is made we're hoping to check-in right @ check-in time. Then it's off to DTD and a monorail trip, possibly a dip in the pool, but an early bed time to hit MGM first thing the next morning.
