Any good computer deals?

Tony, the computer we bought can be seen on the Walmart site. It is an HP Pavilion 15.4'' Laptop PC with Travel Bag Model ZV5227WM, $1498.00.

My desktop at home is a DVD R/W and I really like it. It is a Sony as is my camcorder and digital camera. We paid more for it, but at the time it was one of the only DVD R/W computers on the market.

I'm looking for something that we can watch movies on the plane or in the car and download photos during our trips. I'll have to keep my eyes and ears open to see what I can find.

Thanks for all the info!

Dell has a pretty good deal going on right now on the Dimension 4700 series. The price is $549 after $100 rebate for a....

P4 3.0 GHz w/Hyperthreading and 800 MHz FSB
XP Home
256 MB RAM
FREE Dell 720 color inkjet
WorldPerfect
40 GB SATA Hard Drive
48x CD-ROM Drive
FREE! 17 in E173FP LCD Flat Panel Display
Integrated Intel Graphics
Integrated 5.1 Channel Audio
Integrated Intel PRO 10/100 Ethernet
2 Year Warranty with 2 Year On-Site Service
FREE SHIPPING!

Details can be found by following this link. All you'd really need to add is a CD or DVD burner and you can pick those up cheap. So for around $600 you could have a decent system with a 17" LCD monitor. Not too bad of a deal if you're still looking for one.

We have tried buying computers on Black Friday in the past and it's not worth the effort to save a few more bucks. The lines start VERY early in the morning and, as someone posted above, most stores don't have a lot of computers at the deeply discounted price. However, we just purchased a new computer at Best Buy with flat screen monitor and color printer for only $350 after rebates which isn't bad at all. Add in 2 years no interest and we went ahead and bought instead of fighting the crowds next week.

What was the make/model/etc on this?

I'm thinking of getting another computer, but I'm a complete computer spazz...

I want one that I can load those darned Sims games on, that won't suck up the entire memory!

Thanks. :)

I don't have all the particulars in front of me but it was an EMachines with approx. 256 MB, 60 GB hard drive, 2.66 GHz processing speed with a 17" flat screen monitor and HP color inkjet printer.
