If you get the Brit Guide to Orlando (guidebook) you can get 10% off car hire with Alamo and free additional drivers. This saved us around $200 I think.
Alamo seems to be generally the most reasonably priced anyway so it's worth a look.
Just make sure you don't get tricked into buying unnecessary insurance when you pick up the rental car!
I got an email the other day from Hertz to look out for their next global sale coming August 29th.
Don't know the dates it is going to apply but I am holding out for my October trip

What's the deal with Alamo? Is there a Quidco or affiliate link that helps double up the saving during the global sale or is it honing the hertz club???

As we always need to put on additional drivers plus we like a pre-paid tank of fuel, we always find either carhire3000 or USRentacar cheapest, choosing the gold package.
You have to either return full or pre-pay on collection for a tank.
We always choose Gold as we need an extra driver and the extra driver fees usually are more than the upgrade to gold when you take into account the $50ish dollars for fuel (depending on the car type)
We always do the gold option with tank but thrifty on usrentacar are not giving us the option for tank of fuel and extra driver so was just wondering what happens
