You are too funny Zurg! The book is called In her Shoes.

Good in Bed was great..needed more hair pulling, butt slapping detail, but overall it was good

This is a bit of an obscure book (I think), but Wicked by Gregory Maguire is one of my all time favorite books! What's it about? Well... You know the story of The Wizard of Oz, right? About how Dorothy and Toto were swept away in a tornado to the land of Oz, and met strange friends on the way to the Emerald City to see the Wizard? That was a great story, but what about the Wicked Witch of the West? What was her deal? Well, this book is all about her, from the time she was born with freakishly green skin and sharp teeth to the day she comes face to face with Dorothy Gale. It's simply one of the most original and imaginative books I've ever read, and really draws you in. By the time you're done reading this, you'll wonder who the "bad guy" really was in Oz :smooth:

there's also the HP series(no suprise right)

I'm reading books for Dark Angel and Gilmore Girls

Well, I had a successful trip to the library yesterday. I ended up finding two new books to series that I love, so I got both of them. One is the Sword series by Jennifer Robertson, the latest book is Sword Sworn I think? The other book was the latest in the Joe Gray mysteries by Shirley Reausseau (sp?) Murphy, very fun lighthearted mysteries where sentient cats solve the mysteries and exactly the story I was in the mood for. I just didn't realize the new book was out yet. :D

Then I also got an older book of Murphy's that's a sci-fi/fantasy story about cats and some portal between the cat's world and human world, and got a mystery by Sheryl (Sheryn?) McCrumb, the first in that particular series which is supposed to be fun.

Karel -- I used to love Star Trek, but I think I got burnt out on them after a while. I rarely read them any more. We have a *huge* collection of Star Trek books, though. If we bring them all out, they fill one entire column of shelves even when the books are stacked 2-deep. Also, what's Holes supposed to be about besides some kids in some camp digging a bunch of holes?

Flyfly -- I may have to check into that. I'm not a huge shopper, but that sounds like it might be fun. :D

I'll have to check out Douglas Preston/Lincoln Child, Iris Johansen, Janet Evanovich and Sue Grafton.

Satine-- I already finished the HP series. :teeth:

Delikado -- sounds interesting...

Thanks for the suggestions everyone!!!

Rajah, Have you read any of the Diana Mott Davidson mysteries?? The main character is a caterer/policeman's wife/amateur sleuth. Just enough mystery with good humor too. Also - the recipes for the catered meals done in the book are listed. If you have not read any of them I would suggest starting with the first "Dying for Chocolate" - although not a series as such there are references to the same characters in each book.

Happy reading!

Nope, sure haven't, though I've seen them and considered them.

Is that author the same author who does the Den of Antiquity mysteries?

If you want funny, read Danny Bonaduce's (Danny Partridge) autobiography. It's called "Random Acts of Badness". I recently finished it and it was hysterical. I actually had to suppress laughing out loud at the gym. (I read it on the treadmill). It was an easy, easy read and really funny. My Mom even read it and she never watched the Partridge Family - but I told her she had to at least try reading it. She finished it and raved about it.:D

The Savannah Reid series written by GA McKevett is a lot of fun to read. She is an ex-cop and PI with an interesting group of friends and family. Its a light funny read.

Jennifer Cruise is one of my favorite authors. She is LOL funny and mixes mystery with a little romance. Not smutty but not clean either.

Not sure if she is the author of that series also Rajah. I recently also read Patricia Heaton's (Everybody Loves Raymond) autobiography - Motherhood and Hollywood - very - very funny!!

Which one ? The first ?

I've picked that up, but have not read it.. Do you happen to know about what level it is at? (Thinking of reading it out loud to my daughter.. but not sure if she would "get it") She saw the book and mentioned Princess Diaries...

Cindy: it's the book that became the movie last year, very cute story and if your daughter liked the movie she may like the book

Well, basically, what reading level is it at? I'm concerned that if I read it to her, will she comprehend it? or will I have to reexplain it all?

If you have a paperback, it should say reading level on it... some publishers publish it on the back. Look on the back sometime, near the UPC, on the right hand side you will see RL and a number..

For example my kids Scooby Books are RL 2.2 (2nd month of 2nd grade)

Some of my sons are RL 6.1, or 8.2, 3.4 , whatever...

I guessing it was the first book then. There's a few books, just wondering which one you were doing.

Its a really quick read.. I read it in about an hour or so.. (but again I can read about 60-100 pages an hour.. one of my weird talents)

I had the same doubts about it. But my sister was all excited about it and saw the movie and she doesnt' even have kids. It doesn't have any deep insight into life but has some nice lessons about believing in yourself and working hard. In some ways it reminded me of a Seinfeld ep where you're waiting for all the loose ends to tie together. It's a nice easy read.

Cindy - I'm not sure of the Princess Diaries RL off the top of my head but I have read it and few of the other ones. What RL is your daughter and how old is she? It's a bit different from the movie and I was disturbed a bit by the emphasis they put on her looks - for some reason I'm thinking of her glasses. It worried me about what message about appearance they are sending to preteen, teen girls. Otherwise, it's pretty harmless. I loved All American Girl by the same author.
