hey every one... i am curious about staying at the all star movies resort since it is the cheapest. any info about it or what was your opinion about it? thank you.

We like the all star resorts. Cheapest stay onsite, GREAT themes, and a bed and toilet. Since we spend most of our time at the parks and the hotel for a quick dip and sleeping, it works for us.

That being said, we are trying the mods this trip. You will get mixed reviews on all hotels. I say, just evaluate what you want and make your choice. It is Disney and so it is great!

We did All Star Sports. Long walks to the bus stop. The food courts are a nightmare after a day in the parks! Wait in line for this thing for one child then another line for a different child! I said never again!

My advice is to always eat dinner before you get back to the hotel and bring some peanut butter and drink mix for the hotel room.

We did the Swan after Sports which was ok, but we missed Disney theming. Still alot of walking around the large hotel.

We are going to try POFQ this time! I hear its compact! :flower:

I've done All Stars twice (2000,2004) but like you this time we, too, are going to try a moderate. We going to try POFQ. One of the main reasons to try is that, sadly, this will probably be my last trip to WDW (until or if I ever have grandkids).

M govies was OK but definitely a let down after a moderate. food courts don't offer much of a selection. Even my kids begged to order pizza. pool is crowded with tons of kids. It seemed the resort was much busier than that of a moderate. But rooms are closer together. good choice if your not planning on spending much time there.

Movies is our favorite resort. We usually stay in the mighty ducks (has its own pool) or dalmation (right next to mighty ducks, closer to the food court) We are rarely in the room besides sleeping, showering etc. If you plan on being in the room for relaxing etc, keep in mind that the rooms are small. We like to stay in this area of the resort because it is fairly close to the food court of Music and Movies. We usually walk to Music to get refills on the mugs, get on the bus etc. The pools do get busy depending on the season and weather, but I am guessing all the resorts have similiar problems. One BIG advantage of the all stars is the bus service is direct to all of the parks, no drop offs or transfers like some of the resorts. Slower times, the busses will stop at all three resorts to drop off and pick up guests. During peak times, closing time, etc. The busses go only to one resort to pick up and drop off guests. This is nice if your are exiting the parks at closing time when the busses are overrun. You simply pick the shorter line for the Music or Movie bus to get to your room. We even took the Sports bus once since the other lines were packed. I know some people have complained with the bus service at the all stars, but we have stayed there numerous times and never had to wait too long. Food court does get busy at certain times, but we always rent a car and use that to go off site (cheaper and better food) or have off site pizza delivered to the resort (you have to pick up the pizza at the check in area) We used to eat the pizza they had in the food court and it is nice to have it delivered directly to the room, but our last pizza was terrible and nothing like it used to be, different sauce, crust, even the cheese was terrible.

wow. yeah we're probably not gonna spend so much time in there. but the movie resort seems nice as far as decor and the price. but i'm interestied in going there.

We've stayed at Movies twice, POP once, CBR once, and are headed back in May for our second WL stay. Even though we LOVE the WL, the family we are going with in Dec. (newbies, I'm so excited!) want to stay at Movies, so we're going back. I don't mind it, my dd who will be turing 6 during the trip, loves the decor, and you can't beat the price.

We've never stayed there---or even in the park for that matter. But we'll be there Sunday!!! :cool1:

I planned this trip at ASMo because I can't wait to see the look on my 4 year olds face when he sees Buzz and Woody---my child knows every word to every Toy Story movie and we have been counting the days. All I care about is that the room is clean and there's a place to lay our heads down when we're tired. I've seen the pictures of the rooms and they're set up exactly like a Travelodge and we've stayed at those places many times, so no big deal for us.

I've already decided that for our next trip we are going to stay either at WL or AKL, but for this trip it just HAS to be Buzz and Woody!

Three more getups!!!! :)

I like the Movies resort, especially for the price!

My advice would be to get a 2nd or 3rd floor room- on the first floor, you can sometimes hear the people walking by outside.

As long as your expecting 'budget' service you won't be dissappointed. We went in Sept/Oct 04 and loved it. We did do a few things to make it easier:

- Had a rental car, so we could eat offsite when we wanted to. There is a McD's right at the exit of the 3 All Star resorts. Good breakfast choice if you like their selection.

- Paid $10/day to have an inroom fridge. Yeah their small, but it held plenty of soda that we had bought at Publix, since we had the rental car. Also fit some fruit and bread in there.

- Had a late lunch at the park with a snack around 6 or 7 pm. This let us hold off on dinner until 9pm.

- Other than eating dinner stayed in the pool until midnight. It was pretty hard to get tired of being in the room since we were barely in there.

If you have younger children its harder to do some of the above, since you shouldn't get them that far off schedule.

Enjoy your trip!

What time are the pools open to? Are there guards on duty during the day and just not at night? Are there any hot tubs/jacuzzis or steam rooms anywhere on property?

I think the lifeguards were on duty until 9pm or so? Not sure though. No, no jacuzzis or saunas or anything, just the pool and the kiddie pool play area.

This will be our first time staying there next month. Thanks for all the info from everyone. Really helped reassure me.

We stayed at Movies last fall and we really liked it! We were in the Toy Story section, in the Buzz Lightyear building. We ate at the food court several times for breakfast and lunch and we thought the food was fine. The food court was usually pretty clean when we were there, the staff seemed to be quick to wipe off the dirty tables, etc. We didn't have any problems with the bus transportation at all. The longest we waited at the resort for a bus to the parks was about 15 minutes, that was the day we went to Epcot; the rest of the time they came within a few minutes after we got there. The busses were crowded when we left the park at closing, but there's not really a way around that, when so many people are going to the same place at the same time.

We had previously stayed at Caribbean Beach, and I was a little leery of Movies, but we really had a good time there. We're going to stay at Pop this time, just for a little different surrounding.
